Default Can a short person wear long skirts?

I am short, 5' 2", I would love to make and wear long skirts but how do I make them to look right on me?

What style would you use? Full, aline etc... ???

Also I am extremely short waisted so I would have to wear a top on the outside to compensate for this.

    TIA

All types look different on different people. I love the look of "just below the knee" skirts, but I look horrible in them.
Before investing your time and money in making them, why not go shopping and try a bunch of different styles on. That way you know what looks good/looks bad and you can just make that kind!!

I think so! I think long skirts can look good/bad on anyone regardless of height. I'd avoid anything that tapers! That only makes everyone look bigger in the thighs and hips and shorter than they are. I'd got with a really drapy material that sits well with a good flow. Have you thought about a long skirt that is a little shorter in the front and longer in the back? IMHO skirts that sit on the hips rather than up past the belly button provide the most pleasing line to the eye. Long skirts look great with heels as well if a couple of inches are needed!

I am 4'11" and I love wearing broomstick style...i think that's what they are called. Long flowy sorta. Peasant-y style long skirts ... do you know the kind I am trying for? Those are my favorites.

I don't like skirts that are above my knees or even at my knees because on me at least they seem to accentuate the short distance between my knees and feet, lol. But I have seen other short ladies who pull the look off wonderfully! I think it's all in how they feels in their clothes

Sure Dee! I'm 5' 2" as well. I like skirts that are A-line and sit lower on the hips without a waistband. I have wide hips and a narrow waist. That is what looks best on me short or long. More of the flowy skirts look alright as long as they are not poofy (too gathered). I agree with Mandi and try a few things on in the store. Good luck!

I'm 5'2" and love long skirts! I wear strait skirts, but that's just a preference. I agree with MandiDawn, try a bunch on and then go from there!

I'm 5'3" -- long waisted with short legs. I generally wear my skirts anywhere from mid-calf to ankle length. I'm not really comfortable showing off my short, stubby legs. I think whatever you are comfortable with is fine. I agree about trying some things on to see what you like.
