Poodle Cloth
There is a fabric store across the street from our doctors office -- good thing we don't go to the doc very often. Anyway yesterday I was browsing in the store and saw what the clerk said was poodle cloth. It is very expensive per yard, but to encourage sales they had made up "kits" with 1/4 yd and instructions for making a scarf for $6.09. All you do is put a lengthwise seam in and turn it -- no need to finish the edges.
DH decided he wanted a scarf so I bought two kits and made them up last night. I wore mine this morning when I walked up to the fitness room -- DH wore his to work. Mine was nice and snuggly -- they aren't real wide, but wide enough if you're just wrapping it around your neck.
My only complaint is the colors -- they had red, but everything else was kind of neon versions of pastels. I would prefer more earthtones.
Anyone else used "poodle cloth?"

Actually, full retail is $23.99. But one scarf only takes 1/4 yd. -- that's $6 and they are really nice scarves. In fact scarves of this quality retail for well over $10.
DH works in a job where he talks all day, so he will do just about anything to protect his throat -- including wearing a purple poodle scarf.
He loves his.
I did use a standard technique for sewing with faux fur when I sewed my seam. I worked all the nap to the inside -- that way your seam is invisible. I also sewed my seam by hand. The backing is rather slippery and I don't have a walking foot.
I'm not sure I would want to sew much more that one seam in the stuff. But the ladies at the store said it is sometimes used for stuffed animals. Anyone tried that?

Is the fabric stretchy? I've never seen it.

I've never heard of poodle cloth. Strange that it would cost $20 a yard when it's only polyester.
