Default Did you know that you should buy a pattern in high bust if D or more?

I didn't know that and for years I've been getting patterns and adding to them to make them fit my measurements.

So, Simplicity says that they add 5" of ease to their patterns and if you are a D or above in cup size to use the high bust measurement instead of the full bust measurement when buying the pattern.

No wonder my shirts look like tents!

So I learned something by going to the site and I thank you very much for the links!

Also, I didn't know if you knew this or not but there is a site for Rit Dye. Rit Dye has got to be the cheapest way of getting fabric in the color you want. I dye my t-shirts to match whatever I want.

Men's t-shirts come 3 to a pack and are cheaper. I buy white and dye them.

Also, you can sew all of your stuff out of muslin and match it with whatever else you want (like a t-shirt) and you have a matching outfit.

I imagine too, that since you can dye nylon tie straps, you could also dye those flip flops that are all plastic if they have nylon in them.

Last year, I got a ton of sheets at the church yard sale for about $20. I had got them for quilt backing.

LOL, they are going to become clothes. When I finish sewing them I will dye them. Crinkle cloth is in this season too.

Thanks, I never knew that about patterns.

I have a question: do you ever have any trouble with the rit dye bleeding? For instance if you wear a dyed button-down shirt over a white t-shirt, does your t ever pick up the dye color? Maybe I'm thinking of how the dyes used to be when I was a kid...

Using and dying muslin is a terrific idea!

    Thanks!

Well I flubbed up the info I gave, LOL! It's a C cup or above. Simplicity, McCall's, Vogue/Butterick all use the same standard measurements. Although Simplicity stated that they added 5" of ease I just got a NEW LOOK pattern that states right on the pattern pieces that it has 8" of ease. It's a peasant blouse pattern.

About the dye. You really have to follow directions. Rit requires that you add so much salt to the water to set the dye and the water has to be hot if it's powdered.

I've never had a problem with it running, but then I rinse the living daylights out of the garments that I dye. I also don't use bleach in my detergent when washing home dyed garments.

Rit also has some awesome custom formulas on their site.

Try it, you might just get addicted!
