would like suggestions for Mothers Day
I would like to sew something for my mother and MIL for Mothers Day. Does anyone have any ideals? I'm fairly new at sewing. I need something nice and easy, but not cheap looking. All advise is welcome.

My first project was an apron. Sewcrafty (Dee) made wonderful tutorials for that and a nice totebag. Either one would make a wonderful gift for her. Good luck & have lot's of patience.
If I can sew, anyone can, lol.

I like the tote bag idea. My children used fabric paint and put their handprints and the date on one for my mom several years ago and she loved it. She still uses it.
Also, a nice potted plant or some annuals is nice this time of year!

If you make an apron (excellent idea, BTW), make sure it has pockets! For some reason, my mil once made aprons for me and DH -- not a pocket between them!

Thanks for all the ideals. I will probally make MIL a tote bag, I made myself a small bag and it turned out okay. I think I will purchase my mother a Bible and sew a cover for it. She wants a Bible with large print. I just remembered.
Thank you all so much. Now its time to get busy.2010 Challanges:

My dh made my mom and his mom a wooden box. I am working on making a neat cushion for the top....its a yarn/craft for his mom and for my mom its for her outside stuff.....she runs the selling part of my parents farm so that seemed like a good idea (hat, sunscreen, pens, notepad)
hitting the dollar store for a few little things to tuck inside each one....
