Default Have a question about making a bib and using a serger

I have ended up with a few leftover bath towels that are too nice to be used as rags. Since they are off-white, I figure that I can dye them and use to make over the head bibs (the ones that have a t-shirt like opening). Right now we have a toddler and are also expecting our first boy and are always in need of bibs.

My mom told me that I would need to have a serger to do this, and what patterns I have found use a serger. I have a basic machine and do not do enough sewing to need a serger. I don't have any friends that sew, so I would not know whom to borrow a serger from.

The question is: Is there any other option to working with towel material other than using a serger? Is there another approach I can use?

Thanks in advance for any help as I would like to re-purpose these towels.

I made bibs out of towels when I was in girl guides(a long time ago)we used bias tape to finish the seams since we didn't have a serger. They turned out really nice and we gave them to a local shelter.

Danni is right, double fold bias tape will work great!
