Help! Feed dog problems
My sewing maching is ancient -- over 27 years old. . . I lost the manual long ago , several moves ago.
I never drop the feed dogs on this machine. . never had a reason to do so. . .however, Marty cleaned my machine and now the feeddogs are in the down position -- and I can't figure out how to get them up again!
Any ideas of where to look for the adjustment?
Oh-- its a Kenmore machine if that matters.

I don't have a kenmore machine maybe someone else does but my old singer has a lever type switch on the right front side of the machine bed. My bernina has a knob on the right side of the machine, close to the on/off switch. I think yahoo has a vintage kenmore group, maybe someone there can help more.

I have a Singer and a Pfaff--but did you check and see if your machine setting got moved to darn? In some machines that drops the feed dogs.
I wonder where they came up with the term "feed dog"?
Hope you figure this out soon--I really get cranky when my sewing machines act up!!Robin

You may have a knob to turn, which is located at the bottom right of the machine, usually under the stitch length setting.
But if I remember right, my mom had a Kenmore years ago and you adjusted the feed dogs at the top of the machine, just to the left of the thread uptake thingy. LOL Fogot what it is called. It looks like a metal rod with a thick washer at the bottom of it. You push down on the top of the rod to either increase or decrease the tension in the feed dogs. You can also push down on the washer, and the rod should come all the way back up.
Hope that helps, just keep playing with it till you figure out which way it goes.~~ Dee ~~
