What type of sewing machine do you have?
Mine is a Husqvarna computerized sewing machine that I love. My mom purchased it for me almost 2 years ago and I'm thrilled to have it.
What type do you have?

I have a Phaff sewing machine. I think that's the name? It's a german sewing machine. I've had it for 10 years now. Back then it had costed me something like 799.99$! Can you imagine!
My dh really spoiled me that time! lol

Mine is a Yamata ebay special.

Unfortunately one of the tabs that held in the bobbin case snapped in half (we tried to fix it by taping it together), and now thread keeps tangling in there.
I'm dying for an elna or Bernina.

I have a Pfaff. It's 20 years old and a few months. I love it to pieces. I don't want any other machine. I had my mother's old Elna and it and I did NOT see eye to eye on anything.
One day in mid pregnancy with dd, who will be 20 in December I had had it. My old Elna had eaten yet another hunk of material down the throatplate, and spat it up all chewed to death and
due to extreme pregnancy, I didn't have ANY more seam allowance, so scratch that project. (it had already eaten into the seam allowance and ease several times).
Dh heard my screams of fury and I was literally on my way out the back to pick up the axe (I was going to make that machine give me at least one moment of satisfaction) when he told me to stop!!! He would buy me a new one if I felt that bad about it.
We went out and bought a top of the line Pfaff, which I took home and HATED and brought back the next day.
It intimidated me with all it's bells and whistles.
We got the next one down, and I took lessons on it, the sales lady was really good on how to make it do it's thing, so that you really got to know all the features, and it's been with me ever since.
Instead of the Elna's sullen snarling and fits of fabric chewing, I feel like it smiles back up at me, says HI WHAT ARE WE GOING TO MAKE TODAY!!!! I love it.

I still have my (very old!) Montgomery Ward brand one. I think it was the first thing I bought with my very first paycheck at age 16! I think I paid $89 for it. Too many years ago to count! It still sews like a charm!
JustGina, check your yellow pages you may have a store near by that can repair that for you. I live in an extremely small village, but we a a Singer store about 25 miles away that services just about any brand name. It can't hurt to try a phone call.
Good Luck, I know I would be lost without my machines (I also have 2 sergers).

I have a singer 1802 and its probably 20 years old. It was my mothers. I want to learn how to use it, but it doesn't have the manual anymore and all the sewing shops around here don't want to order it for me... Looks like sewing for dummies here I come!!!

I have a couple of sewing machines:
1. DH bought for my birthday the first year we were married (1977). A Singer Touch n- Sew Golden. It is a wonderful machine, even came with a walking foot so when I began quilting I did not need to buy one!!
I see plenty of Touch -n- Sew machines on Emay....if someone is looking for a good used machine very reasonable...I would highly recommend.
2. A Bernian 1090 computerised...I had to have!! I called LOTS of sewiing machine repair shops and found this Bernina...a model that was still being sold as new in Bernina shops...I paid 1/2 the price of a NEW Bernina and it is in perfect condition.
***IMPORTANT POINT I still perfer my trusty old Singer for sewing....
3. A singer Featherweight
4. A Singer Genie. A fun machine from the 70's, I bought this on ebay. It is a machine that was marketed to teens. It is so cute and compact and sews very nicely. It is light weight, I bought it to "tote" around
My Bernina is VERY heavy, and the singer is in a sewing machine cabinet that DH got for FREE and refinished for me...it was actually made for my singer machine and hold LOTS of stuff..
I love sewing machines!! I am always tempted to buy used ones that I see, espically from the 60's and 70's!!

My dad collects old treadle machines and fixes them up. He suffers from RLS (restless leg) and is pretty severe.
He gets up and sews on the treadle when he is having a hard time sleeping.
Made parkas, jeans, all kinds of fun stuff.
