    Default In need of a darning egg

    My dh wears steel toed boots which makes a callise(sic) on the side of his toe which causes holes. He has already turned the socks around now he has holes in all of his socks. The socks themselves are in great shape except for the hole. I cant find a darning egg so was wondering if anything else could be used.

    a lightbulb can be used. I use one all the time.

    My dh wears steel-toes too. I found some socks made to wear with steel-toes at the dollar store and they are holding up alot better.

    Mu dh also wears steal toe. We finaly gave up on cheap socks and buy red wing socks. I buy six pairs and they hold up for a year, No kidding. THey are pricey but worth it in the end.

    I use a plastic Easter egg all the time. I would manage to break a light bulb.

    thanks all for the advice. ok...its between a lightbulb and a plastic egg(not hard boiled) gonna try them both and see which one works best for me. If I come on and you cant read what I am writing then you will know that I broke the light bulb.
