Question Could use some sewing advice

Going on vacation next week and I broke down and bought myself some new stretch Capri's. My dilemma is that they need to be hemmed. I want to do this on my machine and I am wondering how to keep the stretch to them. Should I pull the fabric as I sew them? Do I need to lengthen my stitches? Not sure what I am supposed to do to keep the threads from breaking when I wear them. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

P.S. I have pathetically skinny legs so they are not all that tight on them.

If your sewing machine has a stretch stich you can use that. If not, a narrow zigzag stitch will work.

Yep bluebird is right. If you aren't sure if your machine has stretch stitches, tell me what brand and model you have and I can check for you.

You can use a very narrow zig-zag stitch and gently, very gently stretch the fabric as you sew. You should be able to slip them onto your free arm and get a nice hem without creating distortion in the fabric.
