Stamped Embroidery?
Does anyone do stamped embroidery? I used to do counted cross stitch, before I had kids. I have switched to stamped projects now. I really like them because you cant lose your place as easily. I was just curious if anyone else liked to work on them as well. I have made 3 baby quilts and am currently working on a large table cloth.

It's not my favorite, but I can't spend a lot of money on a hobby. So most of my needlework projects come from garage sales. I'll do whatever I can get cheap. I've done a lot of different types of needlework -- stamped cross-stitch, counted cross-stitch, crewel, candlewicking, needlepoint (printed canvas and plastic canvas), chicken stratch (cross-stitch on checked fabric), embroidered embellishment on crazy quilts (but I've never tried ribbon embroidery) probably a few more I can't remember right now.
As long as the print is dark enough to see and not blurred I don't mind an occasional stamped project. I don't like kits though. I'm not very good at following the colors in patterns. I like to choose my own.

I enjoy doing Iron-on designs for embroidery. I also do cross stich. I like the embroidery designs when I need a break from x-stitch

Ribbon embroidery
Quiltergirl,
Ribbon embroidery is wonderful. I have copied designs from some books on old denim shirts and it makes them look like the expensive brand new ones. If you can do the other type of needlework, this should be a piece of cake for you. I am also on a type buget for projects. I really like finding crafty stuff at garage sales and thrift stores. I once got a baby quilt top for 1.00 - the same one was 9.99 at walmart. I was really in heaven. I had to take out a few stitches the other person had started, but that was it. It looked like they started off with an inappropriate color and quit.Dawn

Your project is wonderful. I went to your blog page. Will it be a wallhanging or a quilt top? I have a simiar theme/design in my kitchen. Basically it is bird houses and bird type statue stuff. Along with all my house plants.
What other types of projects have you worked on or completed?Dawn

I like to do stamped cross stitch, for the reasons you mentioned -- I'm interrupted often and it keeps me from losing my place.
I seem to have a problem finding good patterns, though. Many years ago, I stitched a stamped alphabet sampler for my parents' anniversary. I'd love to do something like that for my own home now, but can't find anything like it.
Where do you guys get your projects?

I enjoy stamped cross stitch because I can do it quicker than counted cross stitch. Does anyone else feel that way or am I just imagining it?

I really like to do stamped cross-stitch. I made an apron and two sets of pillowcases and gave out as Christmas gifts last year.

Hi
Yes, I agree it does seem to be quicker. I think with trying to keep track of the color and spacing of counted cross stitch it takes more time. I am working on an oblong table cloth that is stamped and it is going pretty fast.
I will try to post pictures when I can get my daughter to help me load them. (lol)Dawn

Hi - projects
I have found alot of projects at stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels and Walmart. However, my favorites place to find stuff is at garage sales and thrift stores. I do know that you can buy straight from the companies on line - bucilla.com and jack dempsey crafts. I dont have the specific sites. Oh, I just thought of two other places - ebay and quilting stores. Good luck finding you next project
