Embroidery machines - Are they worth it???
Embroidery machines - does anyone have one? Are they worth it? Which one do you like best? Should you buy this one new or can you find good ones used? I have been wanting one, but cannot decide if it really is as good as I think it would be. Thanks for all of your help & input.

I just bought a Janome 350E and I really like it also. It's very easy to use and not as expensive as most machines. All it does is embroidery. I have another Janome for regular sewing. I'm just starting to make some Christmas gifts. I bought a lot of fabric on clearance at JoAnns so we'll see how it goes.

Well, I bought my Janome 350E for a couple of reasons.
It has the USB port, so I can download designs and put them on my flash drive and then put that in my embroidery machine. Very easy and convenient.
I already had a Janome sewing machine and I didn't need a combo sewing/embroidery machine. I liked my Janome sewing machine and this embroidery machine was in my price range. Plus the dealer I got it for gives free lessons as long as you own the machine.
My machine only has one needle, which means I have to change the thread every time there is a color change. It's not a problem for me, but there are some machine, much more expensive, that have more needles, so there are less thread changes.
I really like my machine and would buy it again. It embroiders really nice, I got lots of compliments on the gifts I gave this year.
I hope that helps, it's a lot of fun!~Kim~

thank you for the reply. I didn't know about needles.. never gave it any thought! I will now add that into my memory bank (only one bank at my age!)
I want to make a very informed decision.. with emphasis on the 'informed'.
before this body givers up the ghostI would like to play with one of these awe some machines.

I don't know a lot about these machines, just that I have thought about buying one, but have not yet.
I know they can be real pricey depending on what they can do.
I know a lady who has one, who actually is making good money from hers by taking on custom orders to do. Actually come to think of it, she has 2 of them.
I saw them in her knitting shop. One would think she makes money from the knitting items she sells but not that much.
