    Default Sewing Vinyl?

I have a project where I want to sew a square of vinyl into a piece of fabric, like a window. I tried last night, but when the needle went through the vinyl, the vinyl stuck to the needle, and the sewing continued under the vinyl. How can I get my machine to sew the vinyl? Would sandwiching it between two pieces of fabric work? Or would I need to glue it in place first?

    I googled some sites:

    http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf705693.tip.html

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2038403_glid...g-machine.html

Hope this helps! I'd ask my Mom who has been sewing forever, but their phone is busy and I have to go to work soon.

are you trying to sew the vinyl to what other material? It is don't have a back on it and the other material is just reguler cloth try puting vinyl on top with a piece of paper between vinyl and sewing foot...if you have a roller foot for your machine or they make a reguler vinyl foot but I had to still put the paper in the seam...under to foot but I was going vinyl to vinyl not vinyl to other faberic...also lenghen you stitch to 3.5 and use a heavy needle with heavy thread...

You could try a leather needle on your machine.

Sandwiching it between two fabrics worked. So did putting it on the underside, rather than top.

Thanks for all of the suggestions!
