PONCHO PATTERN/INSTRUCTIONS

Does anyone have a pattern or instructions on making a poncho? Whatever sewing done on it will have to be hand sewing unless I can find a small handheld thingy so I'd like a little or no sew pull over the head kind. Can they be made out of a fleece throw or blanket?

Anyone have any suggestions or ideas please!!

Depending on how sophisticated you want to be about it, they can be as simple as a square piece of fabric with an opening cut for the head to go through. Depending on the fabric, the opening and the outer edges should be bound or finished so that they will not ravel, or fringed so that the raveling is deliberate. I'd measure from the nape of the neck to the wrist to get an idea what size. Twice that measurement would be the diagonal measurement, and you can use the old geometry formula where the diagonal squared (or times itself) is equal to 2 times the side squared.

For example, if you measured nape to wrist as 20, 40 X 40 = 1600 (diag.sq.). Then 1600/2=800 and get the square root of 800, which is about 28.25 - I'd probably go for 30".
