I made more pads :-)
~I made another set of pads from recycled cotton knit, washcloths and nylon shorts. I posted the pics on my sewing blog. I have about 20 now! And all free!~

~I just laid a disposable pad on top of a piece of paper and traced around it. That was the pattern for the inner layers. Then I traced around the tracing and added wings. That was for the outer layers. I've made some with flannel but I like the cotton knit best. Just be sure to cut with the grain and not on the bias. I accidentally did that with a few in the purple batch and they get twisted when washed. HTH!~

With out sounding gross, how do you wash them, and do you wash them by themselfs? Sorry, I never even thought of not using the store bought ones.

~I was washing them with cloth diapers but my kids are out of those now. Now I'm just dumping the soak bucket into the washer and running a rinse cycle. Then I've been adding my towels, which I wash in hot water. So as long as you can soak them at least overnight, rinse in cold and wash with a load you would normally wash in hot, you'll incur VERY little extra trouble and expense. I'm not using them primarily to save money(maybe saving $30 a year), but as a way to recycle what I have and because they are 10 times comfier than disposables.~

i use washables too. some i made, some were made for me. I just toss mine in the wash as normal. usually with the load of towels. Since i am always doing laundry anyhow, they don't ever have to saok waiting for the wash.
