What is a good price for tp, per roll?
I know that it varies in different parts of the country but I'm wondering what yall consider to be a bargain price where you are..
The absolute ONLY brand we will use is Cottonelle. DH likes to get the 12 pack of "double rolls". We use 1 full double roll a day so we try to keep at least 72 rolls on hand. We stock up on it when it hits $5 per package(averaging about $0.42 a roll - but we don't buy it by the roll). It normally runs $7 per package of 12 double rolls when not on sale.
My mom buys huge amounts of Charmin and sends it over here for us but we won't use it. I usually keep 1 small pack of it "just in case" but the rest I always give away. DH will not even come close to using it - too rough on the tushy. (TMI, I know)
We're not picky about our toilet paper. Once about a year ago I was able to stock up on Meijer brand TP for 12.5 cents a roll, but usually I can get Angel Soft for around 16 to 17 cents a roll on sale with a coupon. Those are just plain single rolls.

I've always been able to stock up at prices of 20-22c/roll. Not now, though. I generally have 12 months' worth of TP on hand, but I got down to only 1 month on hand, because I've not found a good price in that long.
The first week this month, I bought 5 months' worth at a cost of 23-25c/roll. I'm also stocking more of the double roll types of TP, because as our family grows, the amount of TP we go through is getting nuts...LOL! I'm trying not to pay more than 40-42c/roll for the double rolls.
I'm very jealous of great TP deals that others will post.

~Everything here is unit priced per 100 sheet count. A 1000 count one-ply roll that is $.65 would be $.065 per 100ct unit priced. I won't pay more than $.04 per 100ct. Last year I got a ton for $.025 per 100ct. I generally buy store brand or Marcal when I can combine a loss-leader with a coupon.~

At Sam's we buy 45 rolls of pompom TP for 17.58 a box....about 39 cents a roll.
Still a little irritated w/ the company...they use to have 48 rolls in the box....still a good deal when I compare the other brands & different stores.
The best price I have gotten lately is $3.99 for 24 rolls, double ply, Safeway or Albertson's store brand. I have 4 packs stored in the closet. I had to get the double rolls once b/c we ran low and we found out that they really aren't much bigger than the regular double ply rolls. Not a good deal.
Several years ago I got a sale price of $.50 for a 4 pack and I bought a whole big case of it! I haven't seen such a price since.
It's like comparing apples to oranges, you have the 1000 sheet roll and the ultra soft whatever that has less sheets per roll and lots in between.
We have tough bits around here I guess & don't use the cushy rolls. I always buy the 1000+sheet whatever at less than 50 cents a roll.

I only buy the 1000 sheet rolls, but lately they have been changing the size of the sheets!!! There's a big difference between a 1000 sheet roll with sheets that are 3" and one with sheets that are 3.75"
Sneaky tp makers
Back on topic, I generally go for less than 50c/roll of the 1000 sheet variety. When it gets below 35-40c/roll I stock up.
With things like this (toothpaste, TP, paper towel, etc.) I find the lowest price I can get it for regular and then stock up when I find it cheaper than that. For example, I can get a 4 pk. of TP at the dollar store for $1. So I never spend more than $0.25/roll on TP. With paper towel, I can get 2 pk. for $1.00, so I never spend more than $0.50/roll for paper towel. With tissue paper, I never spend more than $0.50/box and with toothpaste, I never spend more than $1.00/tube. So when I see a good deal or have a coupon that will bring the price down, I stock up on what I can. Last month, and I bought 3 12pk. packs of TP ($0.21/roll), 18 boxes of tissue paper ($0.38/box) and 12 2-pk. pkgs of paper towel ($0.25/roll).
That's just my method, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I got a 20 pack (not sure if they were double rolls or what) of CHarmin for $4.50 on clearance at Target a while back. I thought that was a good deal - if i had had a coupon woulda been better! At Target the other day I bought Charmin for $10 for 16 triple rolls, had a coupon for $1 off and recieved $5 gift card when I also bought Bounty ($1 off coupon, 12 big rolls were $12). I really don't know what that comes out to per roll. It's so hard with the double rolls and regular rolls etc. It's a lot easier to figure paper towels. Normally I don't pay more than 75 cents for a regular roll - love it when I can get them for 60 cents or less!
