    Default Staying focused

We've just moved to a new house and I find myself perched on the abyss of slipping up. How do others keep themselves focused on the simplicities of life. Not buying those new towels to match the new bathroom, staying mindful of reaching for balance and peace, not being overwhelmed by the glittery newness of shopping in a new area.

Needing a little help to stay on track, I guess.

That would be hard! A new home can get you thinking......

Luckily I haven't moved in 19 years. LOL.

Well, if your budget can handle new towels, I think that's fine! If not, focus on other things. Do some number crunching, think about your goals, and prioritize. Maybe you could hit some thrift stores or garage sales for items that will be new to your home, but easy on the budget. I would NOT put new towels or frivolous things on a credit card...they will wear out and you will still be paying for them. Ragged towels dry just as well as new!

Wow, that is hard. Just remember to enjoy your new house and find free things to enjoy in your new area. Check out their parks and library. You will enjoy your new house alot more if you don't add new debt along with it. Look at yard sales for stuff for your house, that will be a great way to get to know a new area and the people.

    Hobbies.
I know how to do A LOT... I can make soap, shampoos, toothpastes, bath salts, make my own towels, rugs, shower curtains and liners, bath mats, toilet covers, etc.

    Embroidery? Do it by hand.

    Wallpaper? Make yer own.
    Textured walls? paint & sponges
Decoration? Make your own pictures, or buy cheap frames at thrift stores for pennies and frame photos, printed pic's, kids' drawings.

"High fashion" is something that's all marketing...

REAL fashion, you know, what makes a house a home, now THAT is unique!

Thanks for all of the encouragement. I am trying to focus on just getting unpacked. And tapping into local resources already, dog park, library, etc.

Appreciate all the kind words and suggestions here.
