Default My Reader's Digest Homemade book came this weekend. :)

I got three books this weekend when I joined a book club: one of them was the Reader's Digest Homemade book. This thing is great! Everything from sticky buns to pasta salad, antifungal foot ointment to aquarium fish treats, etc is listed in here with ingredients and the recipes! I can't wait to use this thing.

2009 will be my year to cut out everything pre-made and pre-packaged!

Sounds great! If there are tips in there that are different or interesting...maybe you could share them in the tips section!

I have this book. It is a really good book. I have an old book called Cheaper and Better and this book is the only one that has come close to it. It was well worth the money.

Is this the one? http://tinyurl.com/4savh5 There are a couple Reader's Digest books with that title. I'd like to get it from the library and give a look.

sounds like a great book. Let us know if that's the book, I'd like to check it out of the library, too.

I looked up both the books mentioned in the thread on Amazon.com. The Cheaper and Better book mentioned by Jeanna was 39 cents It was unbelievable. I had to buy it!

I have an old Reader's Digest book called "Back to Basics" that my father used to have in his library. Don't know how it ended up with me, but I'm glad it did. Sounds similar to yours, except mine has a lot of basic survival/homesteading skills (how to make lumber from a tree trunk; how to weave baskets; how to use wildflowers/herbs to die fabrics; how to make a solar oven; how to butcher/skin animals; etc) along with the basic cooking and craft skills.

Was just wondering if you've read any of this book and what you thought.

Madhen: I had the old Back to Basics book too and donated it to the library when we moved. It was a good one.

I have the Reader's Digest book and I love it. I found it (it's an older edition) at Goodwill!
