Practicing Meditation?
Does anyone here practice meditation? I read the book Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert and it inspired me to try it. I'm so glad that I did. I suffer from anxiety but after a few minutes of meditating I felt sooo calm. It was amazing. It also gives me time to reflect on any thoughts or feelings I may be having. I am working on incorporating into my life on a daily basis. I have a toddler and babysit for 3 boys, ages 7, 10 and 12, so honestly, I can use all the inner calm I can get. lol.
I found the website for the Meditation Society of Australia to be very helpful. I'd post the link but I'm still too new.

I get all the peace and calm I need from reading my Bible. No matter how stressed or down I get, I can read a couple of chapters and I find the comfort I was looking for. It hasn't failed in 49 years so I stand by it.

I can't always take it with me but then there is prayer and no one can stop me from that.

I have practiced daily mediation for years. I couldn't live without it! A few years ago when my kids were toddlers I found a great guided mediation site that even had kids meditations on it.
When my kids were getting wild and crazy (running through the house, wrestling, etc.), instead of putting them in time out I would have them do one of the Children's meditation series. While a time out would just postpone the wildness, the three to four minutes of meditation would actually calm them down. When they were done, they were relaxed and not running wild anymore. Plus, instead of fighting with me about being put in time out, they were more than happy to listen becuase they love doing the meditation!
Plus, there are four or five in the series and they are all different. And it helps them to learn to be aware of their feelings, believe in their own confidence, etc.
