I learned that if you have a whole entire week to complete an assignment, it's best not to wait until three hours before it's due to start said assignment. (I THOUGHT I learned this in high school, again in college, but apparently it didn't take!)

I like Randy Pausch's analogy that if you have to eat several frogs, don't spend a lot of time looking at them first, and don't start with the smallest one.
