Things get pretty hectic often. I find that I rarely do anything for myself.
I tend to grab a book or a small snack for just me. The last big thing was a salon trip for color and cut. lol
What's the last thing you did for just you?

Well, yesterday while I was Christmas shopping I picked up two things for myself. One is a book I have wanted to read for years now, Little Women. The other is a 1,000 piece Thomas Kinkaid puzzle, Winsor Manor. The book I'll start today, the puzzle will probably wait until Thanksgiving day.

Usually, when I spend money on myself it's for books or magazines. Sometimes for cookie cutters--I bought four new cookie cutters the other day. I'd wanted them last year (autumn cutters--leaves, a pretty apple, and an acorn) but since they were copper they were $2.97 each. Well, I collect cookie cutters (and use them) and regretted not buying them the WHOLE YEAR. I searched for them all fall this year...finally found a basket of them tucked away with the floral stuff (how odd) at one of our local Wal-marts the other day. This time I bought them. I figured if I hunted for them for months and regretted it for a year that I would just spend the $12 or I might regret it again for years...

Oh, I bought a box of clementines yesterday...but they aren't JUST for me...however, dh doesn't really care for citrus fruits much (he'll eat a RARE orange...not often...) and ds thought the clementines were "sour." LOL I bet he'll eat another today....I have teh box half gone already!

Oh, I got my first haircut in two years! Lopped off about 7 inches! Yikes! Did that last week.

I finally made an appointment to day to get my hair cut and highlited...not very frugal I know, but I have been wanting to do it for along time. I am tired of looking in my forties when I am only 35. I think I will go for a "young" looking do (Nothing too colorful though )

Just last night, the kids all went to bed early so I poured myself my favourite drink, lit my oil lamps in the living room, turned on some soothing music and JUST SAT THERE!!! Sounds odd I know but I usually never sit down after supper...I'm usually doing other stuff...it's always a joke around here because I am hardly ever in our living room!!

Took a bubble bath last night, and soaked for awhile in silence.

Awe Heather and justJenn, sounds great!!!

I hopped in the van, took the day to myself and went to the closest small town nearby and spent time just drooling over quilting material, with no one in tow!!! It was awesome.

I'm learning more and more to take time by myself. It rejuvenates me after a busy week or a trying day with one of the kids.

It definitely helps make living simply much easier.

Ok but you are going to laugh. I rented the old original very first episode of Wild, Wild, West (you know the one with Jim West and Artemis Gordon) and watched in all by myself. I used to love this show when I was younger and just sitting there watching it seemed to take me back to a much more simplier time in my life.

last night to escape I took a hot, hot, hot bath with a glass of wine and candles. Was having a downright bad, bad day and needed to get away from it. it was nice to get away if only for a little while. With how the rest of the night went i should have stayed in the tub...
