What's making you smile right now?
I'm just grinning watching dh as he sits watching one of his documentaries & he's rubbing the neck of our cat who hopped in his lap. He's never been much of a cat person (don't remember him ever petting our last cat unless told to) but before we got this cat I asked him to be more affectionate towards it and told him how comforting they are if you just relax & pet them. Well there he sits and it's such a nice scene. 10 minutes later & they are both just sitting all happy and content, lol. Life is good, happy happy .

I can tell you what's NOT making me smile...the weather....57 degrees and raining....
As for what is.... one of my friends just stopped by with her son who is working in my yard (when the sun DOES shine) and her daughter. Both kids are over 40..they are with their mom and heading out to a casino. Their stepdad died about 4 months ago. I'm smiling because she instilled the importance of family in them...they are wonderful to her.

My kids wanting to help me get things back in order after a long week.
Knowing that I am going to suprise them with a trip to the amusement park later.
Watching them smile and have fun.

Being home from the hospital
knowing DH's surgery was successful with no complications
knowing he's recovering well so far
knowing his chances of the surgery staying effective over time is high“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

I spent half the weekend making my first-ever sourdough bread (from a starter I had started 2 weeks before) and I enjoyed the whole process, even the parts I messed up. I learned so much and will try again soon.
By Sunday evening, I looked back on my weekend and felt so satisfied that I had spent my time on something stress-relieving, productive, simple, frugal, positive, and with a tangible end result (the bread tasted truly great, but the shape and texture need some work).

I rearranged our "study" (actually a bedroom with bookcases and computer) yesterday. Every time I walk in I am happy with how it looks(pretty) and how it functions (more user-friendly and convenient).
