Default Where is the one place you can go....

And find total quiet and peace?

Mine use to be the plant conservatory in Winnipeg. I use to go there and get totally lost in quiet. I loved that place and really miss it.

Where we are now, I'd have to say going for a long walk by myself, just to get lost in quiet. Another place I find in the summer time is my upstairs foyer, especially when the wind is howling and I'm by myself. I can sit there for hours, just listening to the wind.

    How about you?

I wish there was a place like that I could go to. But now with the new baby, I can't even get peace and quiet when I'm in the shower!

I go take a hike. Just about anywhere, I can get lost in the peace. If I have peace the quiet doesn't matter as much to me.

Several happy places for preserving myself in the amber of solitude as some poet once put it:

My blue and white bedroom! I feel so cozy and secure and at peace in there.

My navy blue and golden yellow living room, looking out at the big blue spruce that hides almost our whole window. I feel secure, private and tucked away. The wind swishes thru the branches and there is an entire bird hotel and nursery operating in there.

The pond at the park. It's a bit of wild parkland at the corner of a park a block away from me. There is a bench overlooking the pond and the nearby cattle ranch. It is right at the edge of town.

Taking Dozer for a walk along the highway, there is a long wild bit, and I can turn around and all of Kamloops is spread out below me to the far hills in every direction.

Those happen to be my favourite places to pray out loud too. Nobody can see or hear me, and I just like to talk to God in those spots.

I take my little dog for a long walk on the beach. Troubles and woes seem to melt away.

You gotta be kidding - the voices in my head won't let me think anywhere!

My back patio faces the Rocky's...I go out there & sit in my swing...reflect, pray, contemplate, meditate....

Now, I just need to do it more often....

Anywhere near water!!!! Water is very calming to me and I can sit for hours looking at the reflection on the water or the patterns the wind makes blowing across it.

When I was growing up-- I'd go to the middle of my parent's farm. They have 3 huge oak trees there on the top of a hill. I'd climb up as far as I could, stretch out on a huge limb, and just lay back and watch the clouds roll by.

In fact, a couple years ago, when my husband and I separated, I found myself standing at the base of those 3 trees once again. NO way could I launch myself up in the branches these days though.

Here? I take a walk about 1/2 mile down the road to a country cemetary and sit under the shade of a huge oak tree (guess I'm partial to the oaks).

    You too?????

I have tried hiding in the bathroom, but ds has begun slipping notes and papers under the door...I have tried hiding in the bedroom, the kids pound on the door. I have sought refuge in the craft room, no door there so i am found rather quickly there.

I try to hide deep with in my mind in my own little world...but then dh comes after me with a really uncomfortable, white, brass buckle laded coat...

So instead, late, after the kids have gone to bed, I retreat to my bedroom where i have my glider rocker and that's where I am left alone. And my silence is only broken by Dh's snoring as it begins it's impersonation of a chainsaw...

For me it is the library. I love going there, I can lose myself in the stacks of books for hours and hours. I love the smell and the ambience of it. It is just comforting.

Kathy, I too LOVE the library for very quiet moments! It's just too bad they don't let you bring in coffee like Barnes and Noble!

If I need total peace and want to be outdoors I can go for a hike, but my bedroom or sewing room will do. Both DH and I need our "quiet" times each day and so we are respectful to eachother's needs.

I sit in the swing on the front porch and look at the mountains. Or I go out on the deck and potter about with the container garden. Or walk to the mailbox; we have a very long, steep driveway so I'm alone for at least 10 or 20 minutes depending on how fast I walk, lol. I like the library too!
