Default take time ... to look after yourself

I have a beautiful card on my desk that says: "Take Time ..." It reminds me to look after myself as well as my family.

When I look at the card and all the craft and sewing things on it, it inspires me to go out and walk in the garden, sometimes I walk the dogs, sometimes I just get my hand cream and rub some on my hands and legs. I really should do more self pampering but I always do it when I look at my card.

What should you take time for?

What should you take time for ~to smell the roses.

Its such a little statement but so very profound.

~I love to take the time to play with bubbles.
~I love to take the time to go for a long walk in a gentle rain.
~I love to take the time to walk through the forest
~I love to take the time to have a long leisurely bath
~I love to take the time to quilt.
~I love to take the time to sit and listen to the kids. They have so much to tell and so many questions to ask. (This is one I need to do more of.)

Thats only a few. Taking time to smell the roses is oh so worth it.

This is a great topic Bethany....we (myself included) take care of everyone else and seem to forget ourselves.

I should take time for more walks by myself...I get so much good thinking done, sewing/quilting more (working on this). I find I must make the time or I feel "cheated". Now mind you this is somewhat of a new concept for me as I would always feel guilty taking time to do things for me BUT I realize now that I can be better prepared to care of others when I look after me.

    good topic, I ditto!

    Doing a pedicure or manicure.

    Walking by myself.

Cuddling my dog dozer. Or brushing her gently.

    Watching my fish.

Pottering in my garden, smelling roses, nipping a weed, looking at the sky.

    Taking a nap.

Having a long bath or shower.

Wearing a bit of perfume. Right now I like the hand cream from Crabtree and Evelyn that dh got me for Christmas, the lily of the valley one. that always lifts me up.

    Reading a book.

    Reading my favourite magazines.

    Time online with you ladies.

A girl day out with my dd.

Laughing with my son who has such a sense of humour.

    Cuddling with dh.

    Looking at the stars.

    Listening to the wind.

Listening to the birds in the big spruce tree outside the living room window.

Lying in bed on Saturday, drinking coffee and looking at paint chips.

    LOL@paintchips

Heather, you're right, looking after yourself does make you more able to care for others.

I like to take time to:

    -sit quietly under my tree...

    -take a walk with Pierre...

-stop everything and listen to one of my boys, looking at them in the eyes.

-phoning my father to see how he is doing and talking for an hour.

    -reading in bed....

It sounds like such a simple thing to take time for ourselves, but I know myself, like everyone else never does. I'm always putting everyone else before me. Well, tomorrow is going to be my day--maybe that's a little selfish, but I think I deserve it! I'm going to give myself a manicure and pedicure, I'm going to read, relax and do whatever I want!! And, I'm not going to feel guilty at all.
