my daily pix #6
Today we went to the supermarket. Not my favourite pastime but a necessity nonetheless. The people in the supermarket glared at me when I took my pics, I think they thought I was a spy from another shop. LOL. Too bad suckers. I took the pix anyway!!
This is a pic of the dairy section. Notice how empty is is - I always try to go there as soon as they open at 8am so I don't have to line up to get out. I'm extremely impatient.
There are two pix today.

This is the road I travel to get to and from the supermarket. The trip takes about 5 minutes. Halfway along this road I pass Steve Irwin's Crocodile Zoo. I took this pic while I was driving but there were not many cars around.

Hi Bethany! Is that Coles or Woolies?
Give my love to Steve and the gang next time you pass the zoo!

How do you get by without dairy products to purchase? Poor things.
Pretty drive and a quick one too. Are those birch trees with the white bark?
Driving on the left hand side of the road and having the steering wheel on the right would take me quite a bit of getting used to.

That's some store. I've seen some large grocery stores, but none of their dairy aisles have looked like that.

Har har, Darlene.
, they are young pine trees ; Julia, it's Woolies; I'm surprised that some of you think that this store is big. It's an average sized supermarket here. All these supermarkets are exactly the same, we have two big chains of store, just like Julia said and each chain has set out their stores exactly alike.
I have to go out again this morning as DH wants me to bank the money from our store and our bank branch is 30 kms in the opposite direction, near the beach. I'll take the camera again and see what I can find of interest. This time, Carolyn and Lucie, I'll keep my hands on the steering wheel. I have to go on the freeway.

Your store looks so American - I want to here about some of the location specific food you have - Like kangaroo burgers or croc on a stick!! It will be fun to hear about your grocery "culture" - for instance here depending on what side of town you shop at you can get pigs feet and chitlins. Or prickly pear cactus and masa. Etc, Etc.

Grocery stores there look alot like they do here.
Beautiful scenery you get to drive by on your way. That would almost make me like going grocery shopping. Almost. lol

I think supermarkets look the same world wide - well most western countries have similar supermarkets. I've done grocery shopping in England and Germany and they we're the same there too. I believe supermarkets were an American innovation so I guess they just progressed along that model.
As for australian foods, where I live we have some of the best seafood in the world. We also grow macamamia nuts here and lots of pineapples and avocardos. People do eat crocodile steaks, emu and kangaroo meat, but being a vegetarian, I don't care for it myself. Frankly, I think it's tacky and un-Australian to be eating our coat of arms.
Deb, I'll get you some Vegemite shots soon.

Your supermarket seems huge compared to ours. Our dairy section is very small.
