my daily pix #15
One of the first things I planted when we bought this house was a pale pink wisteria. Every spring I've waited for it to flower, last year was the first year and I got one small pendulous flower. But this year, what a change! On the weekend I took my early morning walk around the garden and I was stunned to find the wisteria in bloom. Not just one puny flower either, many of them. I've counted about 30 but there are lots of buds too. I'm so happy about this. It makes me smile when I think of them hanging there in the slight breeze. It's such a simple pleasure.

Beautiful Bethany! We have a lilac one that we've had for many years. They really are lovely aren't they?

its kind of exotic looking - like from hawaii. Do they need that more tropical climate ( I am assuming since you are off the coast that you are more tropical???) I am in Colorado and I've never seen one of those - I wonder if they would make it here on the prairie??

Kimmee, I live in the sub-tropics of Australia. Wisterias originate in Japan or China, I forget which, but they grow in cold weather usually. I'm in a colder part of zone 7 but this would be the warmest area they would grow. I'm sure they would grow in Colorado, they only flower in Spring though and it takes a few years for the flowering to start. The vine loses all its leaves during winter, srping time brings the lovely flowers, then a ferny type of foliage for the rest of the year.
