my daily pix #25
Something Margery said yesterday prompted me to take this photo today. This is my little kitchen dresser that I've had for about 25 years. I bought it because where we lived at the time didn't have much storage space and I need a place for my crockery. I don't really like the idea of having things I don't use everyday, nevertheless, here sits my "good" dinner set. I use it whenever someone comes over for tea or when we have visitors staying and of course on Christmas day and all birthdays.
On the outside shelf sits a silver tea set and tray I bought for $12 at an antiques auction - along with a $12 plate that I sold on ebay to a collector in Washington DC for $340 US, but that's another story, there is also an antique amber glass comport (with macadamia nuts in it) and some little paint pots at the back.

Just near the little white candle votiffs is this... it's a 1919 Australian penny - in our old currency pre-1966. The penny was set into the top of the dresser by the manufacturer. 1919 was the year my mother was born.

I would like to have a set of china one day but nothing new - something similar to what you have - My biggest regret to divorse was not getting the family china to pass down to my oldest boy - It looks similar to yours. My mom was born in 1921!! Isn't it cool the wealth of info they could share with us and our kids!!

Your china & cabinet are very pretty. You just have to look at them and smile at the thought of all those wonderful meals shared with people you love.
The penny is a neat way to date an item.
I need to know the story of the $12 plate that was supposed to be bought by someone for $340US. Can't tease a gal & then not dish.~*Darlene*~

I love those plates. I also love the cabinet. I am a coin collector, so I really dig that cool penny. Glad you got your own subforum for pictures.
