Random Act of Kindness Lately?
Sure we are all getting ready for the holidays, but have you done a random act of kindness lately? You know, done something for someone, without expecting or getting anything at all in return. I love to just occassionally make someone's day - really shock them. Blesses me much more than them I'm sure. How about sharing what you've done lately?
Yesterday I was in a store returning something and the cashier told me I had to wait because her register did not have enough money. It was only $30 but I just smiled and said okay and stepped aside. No fit throwing like I usually do.
Well while I was waiting a lady that I barely know from a local church came up to check out her items and we spoke a minute. You know that "hello, how are you, not that anyone really cares" kind of talk. I happed to have out my billfold because I was waiting for the clerk to give me my money. I looked down and say a $10 coupon for Bath and Body. The lights went on in my head and I looked at the lady in line and asked her if she liked Bath and Body. She gave me a weird look and didn't say anything. Then I handed her the coupon and told her that I hoped she could find herself something there. About that time, the clerk gave me my money and I left. The woman of course said thank you but I could tell she was still in shock.
I left with a smile on my face.
Okay what nice surprizes have you done lately?
Please share

I have done a few things lately - I don't really want to share what they are but for me part of the Christmas spirit is figuring out what you know about someone else and what they may like and totally not expect ,especially if you don't know them that well, and then just do it for them. Give them a little treat to let them know you are thinking of them and that you absolutely expect nothing in return - but to know they were tickled.

I actually have a little storage place in my heart and my brain (and a notebook) that tracks little things I hear people say they are interested in or think about, appreciate, and if I see something along those lines I will just pick it up and wait til I see that person again. It makes me feel good to let them know someone paid attention to them and heard what they had to say.

Well, the last thing I did was on another board Matthew and I frequent. We posted some DVD's for sale and this one woman ordered one. Well, ya know how it show's those who have a b-day that day, well it was her birthday so we decided to send it to her for free, we even paid the shipping. It felt so good to do that. She was in shock and she said she couldn't believe that there were people still in this world who did kind things for others. She asked what she could do for us, and we replied "PAY IT FORWARD".

Well, yes, just this week I did a RAOK. An online friend of 3 years posted she was looking for a cheap Cinderella VHS tape for her dd. I happend to have one so I mailed it out to her. She asked "how much do I owe?" I also said nothing, pay it forward.

I did that on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I recieved some beautifull fabric duck panels from CJ who had also done an ROAK.
I feel so blessed.

I gave away a car seat, tons and tons of baby clothes,a baby walker, baby bed mattress, and one of those aquarium baby swings.
I could have sold them,we could use the money with christmas coming up, and that swing cost $100 but the girl had just had a baby and didn't have much. I felt better giving them away. She couldn't believe I was giving her that swing. Made my day....or week
Also,a lady in front of me in the grocery store last week was short $2 and some change. She started to put some cookies back and her kids were crying, begging her not to...I gave her the money....At first she wouldn't take it but I insisted, for the kids.....her tears told me she appreciated it

On Wednesday evening I went to the mall to do the small amount of christmas shopping I had left to do. While I was there I bought $116 worth of various toys and books, had them gift wrapped separately and then left all of them under the Salvation Army Christmas tree.

We gave to toys for tots the other night.
Two nights ago, I was in the grocery store and didn't have my shopper's card and the guy in front of me was already cashed out and heard me say oops no sorry I don't have it on me and he said here use mine. I thought that was super nice.If you'd like to help support Frugal Living by Sara Noel, my syndicated column, e-mail, write, or call the managing editor at your local newspaper and ask them to publish it in print or online. On our way home from Cozumel last nite in the Houston airport I saw a soldier who had just cleared security. He was dressed in full fatigues, flack jacket, combat boots.....I shocked dh (he and I were at a little eatery nearby) when I said I'll be right back. I said to him shipping out or coming back soldier? He said coming home ma'am.....I opened my arms and hugged that kid like he was my own and said "Welcome home, thank you". We both teared up but it felt soooo good. I wish I lived nearer an airport to hug more soldiers as they come home.

Ohh, Lisa (prairierose) that made me tear up. What a wonderful thing to do!
I bet that made his day.
I've let others use my valucard to my grocery store. In the past ive also given away baby stuff. That felt really good to do.

We've given TONS of baby stuff away. We just donated a crib and dresser to the organization in Malvern that handles those things. We know the ladies that work there and I guess someone is expecting soon and doesn't have anything. It's too bad I already gave all the clothes away.
I'm giving all the groceries I have on hand here to the church food pantry. You all know what a crazy stockpiler I am, imagine the Christmas baskets they can make!
