Smile What are your plans for a simple week

There are just some weeks when you wish they had never happened. It seems your on a merry-go-round and can't get off. Your swamped with work, there are situations you can't control because others are involved and it seems to go on and on forever. You know those types of weeks - the kids need you to drive them everywhere, dh is home wanting this or that, the school calls, the bills comes in, etc. etc.

Lets see how simple we can make this week - Jan. 16 - 22nd. Do you have areas you can relax in? Do you have appointments you can cancel or put off until later in the month or to Feb.

    I plan on:

~taking 30 minutes each day just to sit and relax. During that time I'd like to listen to some quiet music, have a candle burning or two and just do nothing.

~I'd also like to take a small 15 minute walk around the block (even in the cold) at least a couple times this week.

~I also want to do some more delegating.

    How about you?

Oh Carolyn, what a great thread. I had a very busy week last week and I was thinking this morning..what can I do less of this week to take more stress off from me? Unfortunatly, I cannot put any of the dd's sporting events on hold, but dh is doing alot of the taxi driving this week for me. I will just attend one basketball game and the competitive cheer competition. He will taxi to all practices and gymnastics this week. I am also pulling cassaroles out of the freezer this week. I have about 10 of those made for weeks I do not really feel like cooking alot. I just have to prepare a salad then That will cut down on the many hours I spend in the kitchen. I made a promise to myself that I was going to pull out my simplicity books and start rereading those too. This week I will reread The Simple Living Guide. The dd's will be in school and I can just sit with a cup of herbal tea and relax, read my book. I think it's important for us to take days or weeks like this. I personally cannot take too much of the hustle and bustle on a continuos basis. Great Thread!

Well today got me off to a great start on a simple week. William's band practice for this afternoon was cancelled (yeah) and there is no choir or worship team practice on Thursday.

I would like to spend some extra time this week writing some notes and letters to some friends and family who live in other countries. I could send an email or call but I really miss letter writing.

I would love to be able to finish the house so I could just read and sew with no guilt - but I don't think that will happen this week - hopefully next week will be my SIMPLE week!!
    Good thread CJ!!

Well let's see, last I week I started by not doing something I had planned to, that I knew would stress me out. So this week:

I plan on taking time each evening for quiet time with God, bible study and prayer. Time for crocheting and/or scrapbooking at least one evening this week. I am taking a friend whose son recently committed suicide to see my 7 year old in her school play - because our friend loves my daughter. And, because we all love this friend and this will help her at a hard time in her life. Wednesday will be my do nothing day.

I have busy weeks like you mentioned, cj, almost every week....the boys, school, Pierre's health problems, life keeps me so busy--sometimes I want it to stop for 48 hours and be alone to rest.

But I've been doing alot of thinking lately about my life and I am tired of being busy like this, so I have been thinking of ways to REALLY simplify our everyday life.

One main problem in our home is that we have too much stuff. I really save everything. And this stuff is keeping me busy. So, last friday I got boxes and started to fill them up, to give away. It was tough. I would put one in and then take one thing out...finally I minded myself that I have to do it--for the happiness of our family....We need *space* and *time* here so less stuff=more space + less time worrying about this stuff =more time for me.

So this week I plan on continuing to make space and time and eventually I will have a simpler life at home....

Thank you, for the inspiring thread.

Lots on our plate, this week, as well. But by decreasing some other task, we'll get through it.
    - rereading my Simple Living Guide
    - slowly working on decluttering..less stuff,more fun.
    - taking time to reflect/gratitude everyday.
    - doing things which delight my senses- snuggling kids and dogs, buring fav. candles, steamy baths, herbal teas, etc.
    - appreciating what I have.
