How do you plan to slow down in 2006
This is one area I'm really focusing on in 2006. I still haven't figured it all out though. Curious as to how you plan on doing so.

I would love to do this, though I don't know if it will happen this year. Since we are trying to pay everything off and with DH still not working I will be the one trying to work OT to get it done. The goal is in 2007 to relax a little.

I'm not sure. I'm really trying to become more patient, in general. So far, it's really hard.

I'm not really sure. Rob wants me to give up being the musical director for the spring musical next year because Julia will be in school and if I don't, for a few months, we'll need someone to pick her up at school. That would certainly be one way of slowing down. He also wants me to give up piano lessons in the 2006-2007 school year, but I'm not so sure about that. The $ it brings in is very important to our bills. However, those would be some good ways of me slowing down.

One of the ways that I'll be slowing down is getting rid of "stuff". That in itself will make my life calmer.

I am planning on getting rid of "stuff" that I don't need and getting myself more organized. That will make it possible for me to relax some, I hope. DH won't help much, it's a control thing for him. The more chaos we are in, the better for him because he feels he has control over the situation.

I hope to get rid of "stuff and clutter" which will make maintaining my posessions much easier. But most importantly, I hope to work on my attitude and to remember that I dont HAVE to do everything, own everything, go everyplace or try and make everyone buy myself happy. In other words, I am working on learning how to just say no.

I decluttered last year, but I'm going through the house again this year and decluttering even more. Less stuff will bring more calmness I believe.

I worked on this last year and hope to reap the benefits this coming year. I refused renomination to about 3 committees at church and did not volunteer for any committees in our parent organization at school. As of Dec. I only have to be responsible for my kids activities and my position as Cub Scout Leader.

In 2005, I was President of one Dog Club, Treasurer of another Dog Club, newsletter Editor of a 3rd Dog Club, plus secretary for our National Show. On top of all that I separated from my husband, moved out on my own with 3 dogs to take care of and working 50-60 hours a week. Anything I do in 2006 will be a slow down.... Actually, the only Dog Activity I kept was the newsletter editor because that is only 4 times a year. Whew, I'm tired just thinking about it...

It's sounds like alot of us are getting rid of clutter
I plan on doing my whole house over the next year. I know that dosen't sound like slowing down. I already completed 1 room in my house, the family room. I threw out magazines, put DGD's toys in a box to be kept in the garage. I''l bring it in when she visits.
The room is clean and peaceful. I love to walk into that room it calms me down. I think the less "stuff" you have around the more time you have to do what you really want to do.

I am also decluttering. I haven't reached that lovely stage of any one room making me feel calm but that thought keeps me going. Also, I teach at a college and I am more ruthless this year on chucking out old handouts - kept just in case. I had a great time clearing my desk a few weeks ago - some people thought I was leaving I am also more sparing with my time in that I won't jump whenever anyone wants something. It is helping a lot.

We've started saying "no" to people and things. Before we said "yes"to every visitor and every social occasion. We don't really know anyone here (apart from DH's family) and were desperate to keep the friends that did ask us out.
Now we realise that these friends will still be friends and of course family will always be family and so we don't have to jump at every opportunity that comes our way.
We're also leaving plenty of time to do everything, if we're going to the shops we don't do it the day there's a football match we want to watch on tv. Or if we're going to the rugby we don't go out the night before or have people round.
Also we're trying not to underestimate the amount of time it takes to do things. Whenever we have a household task - painting or whatever, we allow the full day to do it so we don't get frustrated when it takes longer than the hour or so we've allowed for it.
Doing thse things fills up our calendar but still leaves us with plenty of time.

My goal is to declutter also.....I've joined www.flylady.com....check it out. It's really neat.
I am also going to take things as they come instead of worrying about everything all the time.
