Decluttering
Dh and I are going through our large home -- and doing some major decluttering. Its amazing how we're seeing it all with new vision and realizing how much junk we have that we don't use and don't need.
We're hoping to be able to sell our current home and move to a much smaller house and we'd rather not drag all kinds of uselss junk with us. We've also been quite good at staying out of the stores. Getting out of the junk circle!Heather

Congrats on decluttering, I've been doing that slowy but surely for the past couple months and I have done quite well even donating to the Salvation Army and giving items away on FreeCycle.

I recently FINALLY finished de-cluttering our home. It's amazing not only how much more room we now have but how much smoother our days flow. You can now always find what you want, when you want it and it's where it's supposed to be. Everyone in the house must appreciated it because they are now putting things where they belong! It's a wonderful feeling!

I've been on a decluttering binge the past couple of months and my apartment seems so much bigger now [and I can actually find things now too! *lol*]

Good for you! I've been working on that myself for the past few weeks and it's amazing how much better DH and I feel. It seems like every item that I get rid of, I feel weight lifted off my shoulders.

Dear Sari,
Yep - that's exactly how I feel too once I started getting rid of stuff [and most of it was just that S*T*U*F*F.
It's such a freeing feeling, isn't it?!

I've also been decluttering and I have found that it helps in other areas of my life. As I get rid of things I feel more peace, more organized and even more in control of my finances. If I decide to bring something new into the house, I make it a rule to get rid of three things. Everything must have a place and there has to be a use for it.

I did some major decluttering when we moved to our new house 2 years ago. I am still getting rid of things. We have a local consignment shop that loves to see me coming and I've made a few bucks for myself.

DH and I have been in a major declutter mode for the past two years. I know after we brought our son (and all of his shower gifts) home we were grateful for how much decluttering we had done - don't know if all of it would have fit in here if we hadn't!

When I left my ex, I packed up everything that was mine and brought it with me. It was crazy how much stuff I had! After I got settled in my own place, I started the decluttering process and I feel a million times better -- a lot of old junk that I never needed nor wanted is now gone and I don't have to deal with it anymore. Heck, I even discovered some of HIS junk that I had to get rid of!
I sent it all back to him. Let him sort through his own clutter (I did enough of that when we were together).

My husband and I moved to a much smaller home 3 years ago. I did some major decluttering at that time. I held a tage sale and made about 1700 buck. So we move into the new house, free of clutter and things starter creeping in again. I felt like a back silder!! So the last few month I have been going thru things again and I getting everything back under control. Good luck to everyone in this process. nwmissourigal

That's one thing I guess that I need to learn is that I can declutter all I want but have to start staying on top of it or I'll never get ahead. *lol*
Seems I'm always on decluttering binges around this place and it's really not like I have "alot" of stuff either but mostly alot of papers and little odds and ends of stuff that don't seem to have a home of their own. Ugh!

De-cluttering
De-cluttering is a huge part of my business, so it is usually pretty easy for me to stay on top of 'stuff'. I am the ultimate un-packrat!
We moved recently (July) from SW Florida to Michigan and into a much smaller home. As I packed things up I realized that I really do only own things that I need, use often, or truly love, and yet, to make the big move we still had to let a lot go! Our goal with this move was to simplify our lives in every way imaginable. It has been much harder than I imagined, because I always considered clutter to be just 'stuff', but it can also be 'beliefs' or a 'mind-set', sometimes even certain people can be clutter.
Blessings,
Lori

Dear Lori,
For the most part, I'm also an un-packrat because I'm always decluttering.
My problem seems to be the "small" things that I don't know if I'll need so I keep them.
Gotta get out of that mind set and realize that as you said - it is just "stuff" and also that I can replace it if need be.
Love,
Jennelle
