Default What comes to mind when you read this?

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I wanted to live deep and suck all the marrow of life..... Henry David Thoreau

I found this quote in The Simple Living Guide by Janet Luhrs and it profoundly changed my life. I decided then and there I was going to discover what life had to offer and to make sure that when I too came to die, discover that I had not lived.

I decided then and there to live every moment in the present, to enjoy it to the absolute fullest, to dream for the future, but in so doing to not forget the present.

Its been an ongoing journey, one that I'm enjoying fully. How about you, have you thought about living in the present. Thoughts on this quote!!

oh my gosh that is so powerful and it is strange because i am trying to figure out how to live verses how to survive because that is all i have ever done. IF you have any suggestions i would be open to them. (Start with figuring out what i like and have a passion for i know) but that is harder that you think. It took me 5 weeks to figure out my favorite flower. thanks for the quote

To me I think it's about making mindful and deliberate choices.
Reminding oneself of what is truly important to that individual and to live with as few regrets as possible. To prune and prune and prune until you are left with the "good stuff." And in essence to experience life, frame by frame vs. all gobbled at once. To then look back and say "I truly lived."
I think for me when I was stripped of all that was material, I faced what was truly beautiful and wonderful in my own life. Knowing what were true blessings and gifts.
To forgive those that had hurt me and focus on letting go and just being thankful for life itself.

Everytime I read this quote I get goose bumps and I'm sure that it'll be a quote when we take our course.

What does this quote mean to you and has it changed your life in anyway in regards to living life fully.

This quote fills me with deep feeling.....it's very spiritual to me. It means living life one day at a time and appreciating what has been given to me IN that day. It means to use each precious moment given to us with no regrets. It means finding what we truly love and what we truly need. I think so much of what we have "clouds" what truly makes us happy. This quote is the queen of all simplicity quotes!
