Tags cannot be oversomething words(here) question
Not sure what this means, but I spent a few typing this and even corrected my title in case of comas. I tried to put this in the money forum.(this is the second time this has happened to me) Not sure what I did wrong so I copy/paste. TIA and confussed....
So me and dh was out and about today and passed by Costco and that raised a few questions. A few years ago when they first opened here, they gave their memberships for free the first year for advertizing in this area and got some good deals. I'm sure it's changed now! lol
My questions... I was saying to my dh in general....I wonder if it would be cost effective for the stuff we buy for our family everday would be worth it.. to get a membership here, versus running to Wal-mart, dollar store, aldis and all those one stop places. I know the membership is higher than Sams( I assume because it was like that years ago)
These are some things I would like to purchase there if this helps anyone with some info to give me some advice shopping at Costo, versus...of course it would be in bulk because it's cheaper, shop less, and drive less for things.
Soap, shaving raizors, diapers, shampoo, bread, Luna bars, cat food, toilet paper and paper towels, trash bags, cat litter, maybe scripts, gas, crackers, some canned food, even produce in the off season here. I am sure there is more, but just from the top of my head for now.
I almost walked in to pay the fee, but this board has a hold on my brain that I thought it would be worth it all to ask all my frugal friends. To stop and listen
TIA

We have a Sams club membership. I weighed the cost of what we buy before I renewed it. For us it is worth it. Our kitty litter is $3 cheaper (we use 2 a month), our dairy is cheaper, toothbrush refills, protein shakes etc. So it is worth the $40 membership for us.
Can you go in and check out the prices on normal items you buy to see if it is worth it for you?~July 22 saving goal for event $65/$1000

I am not familiar with costco at all. I know at sams you can get a one day pass, if costco does that than perhaps you can go in just to check the prices on things you would want to buy their. We feel our Sams club membership is worth in in the money we save on milk. Milk at the grocery store is $2.99 a gallon here, at Sams it is $2.29. We use 4 to 5 gallons a week. And considering my husband drives by everyday for work, we aren't going out of the way to make a stop there.

I have a Sams membership because gas is cheaper; when they raise it really high just before the holiday and you go to Sams right away you can save alot. Other times its close just a few cents. I never buy produce at Sams way more expensive than our produce stand. I shop the sales at the grocery store way more than buying at Sams. You can get prescriptions filled at Sams or Costco without a membership. I agree with
Nodmicks it would be best for you to go there and check what would be cheaper for you. Every family uses different items. Above is just what I've found for my family.

Palooka..under 'search' put in costco and a discussion that was around the first part of June will come up. gives some good info......but it all depends on how much you would be buying.
Also, you can go in......tell them at the door you are going to get an Rx and go in and look around. check the prices on what you will be buying. If you shop sales you can usually beat their prices. You CAN get Rx there with no membership...have to pay CASH. Can also go to the eye dr. there...but can't buy the glasses.......which I found to be much cheaper. You can even eat there with no membership.Last edited by frugalfranny; 06-17-2009 at 02:01 AM.

Oh, so it has to do with information overload on the same subject of people asking? If all people did a search before asking and did wiki, boards would be a little dead. Thanks! I really didn't know because this (like I said the second time it happened)

Also, I thought you had to member to get RX at those places. Learn something new daily.

I thought frugalfranny was trying to explain to me that if I make a post on the same subject, like do a search first...and if there is several subjects on the same topic, this board will not let you post your new thread. It pops up with the tag thing and it has done this to me twice and won't let me post no matter how much I change my words around.
The title I made this thread is what pops up, besides the word I used oversomething lol it did say over..., just can't remember that exact word.
Sorry for the confusion as I am confused myself why my post would not go through... If one could explain to me what this means when it pops up, that would be great.

That's incorrect..there are many duplicate threads on the forums.

I think your title generated too many auto tags...all you need to do in a case like that is delete some of the the tags below the post you are trying to make, and your post should go through just fine.
