Soft Pretzels
Recipe DescriptionLove, love, love these! And the are a great frugal snack! This recipe can also be used to make homemade bagel dogs. Just wrap dogs in dough before boiling, and increase cooking time to about 20 minutes!Preparation Steps:Gather ingredients & preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix 10 cups water with 10 TBS baking soda, and put in large skillet or stock pot and bring to a boil on stovetop.Level of Difficulty:Easy to MediumTime Needed:Ingredients:10 cups waterServes:
10 TBS baking soda
1 package dry yeast
1 1/3 c. hot water
1/3 c. brown sugar
5 c. flour
course salt (sea salt)2 dozen pretzels or soDirections:Mix yeast with 1 1/3 cup hot water. Add brown sugar. Mix in flour cup by cup. Knead dough until elastic-y. Grease cookie sheets. Pinch off golf ball sized pieces of dough and shape into pretzel shapes. Place into boiling water (mixed with soda) for 30 seconds. Move from water to baking sheet. Add salt to tops of pretzels before baking. Bake for 8 minutes at 400 degrees.
