I took a workshop a few years ago to learn how to make it - just a few hours to learn the basics. I'm unsure where you live but if you have a rec centre nearby that offers craft courses, etc they might offer one. Also I have a store nearby that sells the ingredients and offers courses. Check your local library and also check out the web. I never did get around to making any on my own but my friend makes hers all the time - different scents, different things she puts in it such as various petals, ribbons of fruit peel, that sort of thing. It didn't really seem to difficult from what I remember in this course. I do remember you had to let it sit for a couple of days afterwards. There should be books and websites on the internet. One thing I really enjoyed making were those fizzy bath bombs - so easy to make (if you get the prepackaged powder) - just add witch hazel, petals and scents, put into moulds and they're ready right away - great for inexpensive gifts!!

I use a soapmaking book by Melinda Coss. My favorite soap of hers is her Dream Castile made with goats milk (I just used canned) and Olive oil (cheapest you can find is good--the big gallons of oil that they put on the bottom shelf of the oil section). It's a tan-colored bar that is nice, and can be used as a shampoo, also.
