French Onion Soup recipe???

I am in search of a really good french onion soup recipe. DH had one and he lost the recipe card, it was an excellent recipe, and I can't remember what was in it (other than onions & beef broth

).

I have tried a bunch of different recipes, just can't find anything that is really good.

So if anyone has one they like, I would love to see it! Thanks!

I add a little dry sherry to my onion soup along with the beef broth. But I don't really have a set recipe, I just go with the flow.

When I'm in search of a recipe the first place I look at is allrecipe dot com or recipezaar dot com...People review and rate the recipes and I like that..I have never made french onion soup before but I will in the near future..HTH..

In addition to the beef broth and onions it is usually served topped with a toasted slice of french bread with melted white cheese. The "crouton" floats in the soup and soaks some of it up. You eat it with the soup.
