having been a sahm for many years(my oldest is now 22, my youngest is 8) I have learned that it's part of the curriculum at schools now so the teachers have to ask that. One of my kids had to do this assignment many years ago and it was funny because he wrote that mom looked after my sister. The teacher wouldn't allow that answer because they said it wasn't an appropriate answer. Unfortunately for that teacher, my son is a rather outspoken kid who turned around and told the teacher that yes it was an answer because his sister is a diabetic and was only 5 or 6 at the time and if mom didn't look after her, she'd die. The answer was allowed and when son#2 was in that class next year, the answer was one that could be checked instead of written and there was an other section! lol

I love that! Anyone with half a brain knows that being a sahm is no walk in the park if done right!

I was a sahm for 8 years then I got a job, my kids are now grown up, and being a sahm is a job in itself. WTG for all sahm it is the best job there is.

My husband works in an industry that frowns upon our children telling strangers what he does for a living. And answering that question in a classroom setting is about the same as telling a bunch of strangers. My daughter tells her classmates that "daddy delivers pizzas" Is that glamorous? Nope. Do I care? Nope. As the world changes and the economy continues to stall it's just not safe to tell ppl you have access to certain items. I for one don't understand why this question is asked of children. Why does what mommy or daddy do "for a living" have any place in a classroom setting? It's about the same as asking someone how much money they make and that is really no ones business.

And that is what my real beef is....it just doesn't belong in the classroom. Thank you, hlwilson07!
