    Default Just getting started

I do a little stockpiling, but since the election, I'm getting a little more serious about it. I just purchased some flour storage bins, so now I can get more than 5 pounds at a time and will have a place to store it so bugs can't get to it. I was excited about that.

Hubby is making space in the garage for other household items like detergents and cleansers, which will be nice.

I'm going to get to reading some old posts to see what information I can absorb from them.

Bay leaves in your flour will keep the bugs out. Also you can store it in the freezer and never have to worry about bugs at all. Either of these things will work to keep your flour safe from being invaded by any kind of bug.

Way to go, like you since the election I have taken things more seriously. I am stocking up as and can and trying to get a little of everything.

I too have also been trying to get some more into my shelves. I am going shopping tomorrow, and hoping to get several things to add to my stockpile. Let me know what you find or any good ideas!!

    Thanks

Where'd you get the flour bins? I've been working on my stockpile lately - this forum has been a lifesaver for ideas - but I haven't had much luck finding buckets or bins that are food safe and affordable. Every time I go to the bakery or grocery store and ask for buckets, they look at me like I'm nuts and say they don't have any.

Oh, sure, here ya go: www.kingarthurflour.com/shop Just go to "storage" and you should be able to find them. They come in a 5, 10, and 25 pound bins.

I have been keeping a 5 pound bag of flour in my freezer, but I wanted to free up my freezer space so I can store other things.

I know some of these have "bigger" prices, but they are specially for food storage.
I wish I could afford a bunch of them!
