Thumbs up My boss saw my stockpile today...

So, I was walking out to get my mail and my boss drove by. She stopped and since I just moved in October, I invited her in to see my "new" place. She's heard me talk about my great deals and stuff, but I think she was shocked at what I've gotten for so little. (Plus, she's been the recipient of all the "box top for education" tabs I've accumulated from these buys). Hee Hee. I have 2 coat closet size "pantries" (with shelves), one with food and one with HBA. She said "you're prepared for a nuclear bomb!" - obviously not, but...

That's about the same reaction my mom gave me the first time she saw my stockpile. Unfortunately, it's not the size that I want due to lack of storage space, but I do have enough to feed my family for atleast a month really well....and two or more with very careful planning. I don't need to buy soap or shampoo for quite a while, and toilet paper.....I now get nervous is we get below a 9 pack. She now sends me a wish list, for CVS and the grocery store. (we are trading out space in her garden this spring and summer....so it will balance out in the end.) I can't wait until I have more space to have the stockpile that I want to have.

if theres a nuke, you can bend over and kiss your patooty goodbye! LMAO!
I'd really like to be able to have a closet for my stock pile. Right now it's in a metal cabinet and the lazy susan in my kitchen cabinets. I'd like to have those nice 6 ft tall metal shelves that are like 3 ft(?) deep. Boy, could I go for about 4 or 5 of those LOL! I'd just line them up in the back hallway, but then I'd have to move all my sheets and blankets and rugs that are there now.
I totally don't have any room here *sigh*

Maybe you'll convert her to your way of thinking? ....

At the old house, I saved up the money from my grocery budget to invest in shelves; DH put them near the water softener. Then I was able to stockpile and save even more $$$ !

Here, I've commondeered a closet for an overflow pantry and another closet for an extra fridge/freezer. I do enjoy paying low prices during sales and then having the necessities when the prices go up.

What a great way to show your skills to your boss: organization, eye on the bottom line and able to look towards the future. i think you showed her more than you thought you did. WTG!

When we were remodeling, we did without a pantry door for a few months. It was interesting to see peoples expressions when they saw it. I just said we live so far out in the country we only shop once a month. Not really a lie, I just felt I had to say something. I don't know why it is awkward for people to see our stockpiles, but it is. I view ours as money in the bank. We buy things at below market price in order not to have to spend in the future. Plus, if you are expecting a storm you can laugh when the media tells you to get three days worth of food.
