Default Look how far he has come!

When I first started to stockpile last November my dh just didn't "get" it. He asked questions, he looked at the food, he asked more questions, he looked at the food some more,he started to eat the food all the while I am adding adding adding.

Today, he took me to lunch and said, when we get our camper he wants to stockpile AT THE CAMPER also in case we have to "make a run for it" for whatever reason.

So we have gone from "What ARE you doing, woman?" to Stockpile x 2.

    Funny.

So I said, "You want to split the years worth between the two places?" Nope he wants a year in the house as is my plan and then what we CAN fit and eat in a reasonable time in the camper.

I wonder, is he just manipulating me to buy a camper sooner????LOL

I think that's great. My dh is still in the "has she gone crazy" stage. But when he saw our grocery savings for Feb. I think he started to think..... The camper idea is actually a very good one. We have a small used pop up but I would love to store our 72 hr. kits in there if I ever get around to making them....

cricket...i think he hopes your stockpile is sooooo large that he gets a BIGGER camper.....don't be surprised if he starts bringing home cases of greenbeans after work every day....

I don't want to rain on any parades but be careful about overloading campers. They ALL have weight limits and stacking a ton of canned goods in them probably wouldn't be the best idea, even if there's space. An overloaded trailer is also a strain on a tow vehicle and can result in things like transmission replacements (not cost effective) and poor handling (downright dangerous) which can lead to accidents. Loads must also be distributed correctly to prevent poor handling and trailer sway. Overloaded trailers are also prone to tire blow-outs, which, again, can lead to serious accidents and/or damage to the trailer.

It's good your husband is onboard with the stockpiling though.

Just as an aside, IMO if you can swing a camper sooner rather than later, go for it. It's a buyer's market now, for one thing, but the main thing is camping creates priceless memories for familes, gives you a welcome break from stress, provides a way to get away often for some relaxation, and, once it's paid for, is a very economical way to vacation on longer trips. Even if all you do is camp with the kids in the back yard next to a fire pit made out of an old washing machine drum, you're creating good memories and happy times for the kids. It doesn't matter if the camper is fancy or not, it just needs to be serviceable. It doesn't need to be big or have all the options. A simple basic inexpensive older pop up is all you really need to get out there and have some fun.

Now, about the camper...well he can have one WHEN the time is right and not before lol.

Also, the camper will be parked on the lake year round. We won't be towing it at all.

We had a camper years ago and we STILL miss those great camping days we had.

I would love another camper but first things must be dealt with first.

That is the problem of being a "big people". LOL!

    What a sneak he is!!
You spend $1200.00 stockpiling & he wants to spend $12,000.00 on a camper.
Doesn't sound like a very even trade does it?

But hey! Anything to get them motivated with this stockpiling thing!
