Default Finally got a freezer today!!

So I've been stockpiling for almost two years but I've had to pass on all things chilly because I have a side by side and can't even fit a frozen pizza in there.

I saved up for 6 months and then watched the sales! I am so excited! It was so worth the wait!

Yay for you! We bought another freezer just recently...I love it...It makes serious stockpiling a little easier. I'm happy for you!

Your gonna love it! We save hundreds by going early and buying marked down meat and putting it in the freezer. The latest is cutting a whole pineapple up into chunks and dividing it into small bags and freezing. Fresh/frozen pineapple is so much tastier than canned. Sometimes we get sale eggs and discounted bread and make a whole loaf of french toast (freeze flat on cookie sheet then put back in original bread bag) Reheat in toaster. Have fun

Enjoy! I love having our freezer downstairs. I shop sales, markdowns, and freeze it all. Plus I store extra flour, sugar, other staples in there when I'm able to buy them on sale.

I also bake cookies & make cookie "logs" and store them in there too.

I know people who buy milk on sale and freeze it too (need to take some out to leave head space in the jug for expansion when it freezes), but I haven't tried it.

Good for you! You'll enjoy it so much. You'll be able to stock up when things are on sale.

We use ours for meat, milk, flour, cereal, juice, pecans, vegetables, leftovers, etc.

    Congrats on the freezer!

    RE: Freezing Milk

I recently tried it and it is great! I open the jug, pour a little out, put the top back on, and put in the freezer. You need to take it out of the freezer and put in the fridge a couple of days ahead of time to thaw. Then just shake it up prior to using.

I OFTEN find gallons of milk reduced to 99 cents at the grocery store. And the expiration date is usually about 5 days out. I am assuming they are getting another shipment in and need to make room. I would much rather pay 99 cents than $2.49 a gallon!

I only have a large capacity side by side fridge/freezer right now, but I am saving for a freezer. I will be happy when I can buy LARGE quantities of things when I find them on sale.

    Hooray for you!
I got mines last August. Filled it in October and just now this weekend restocking again. We're good for the rest of the year.
    Enjoy your new freezer!

Hooray for you. I bought one last year(small chest) with one of my bonus checks from work. We live in a mobile home with no room but I put it in our office/spare junk room. I told my fiancee I didn't care how it looked, it's not for decoration it's for survival.I don't know how we got along without one.

OK I got my answer, if you put the 2 words together it comes up SPAM? Can't figure that one out I guess some people are just too sensitive and we must be politically correct ( now there's a contradiction) wouldn't want to hurt any feelings. Geez.

I don't know if it is correct, but the same issue came up with the "h" word in a different thread, and the explanation given was that there is a competing frugal site with that word in it, and this frugal site doesn't allow advertising of those other sites, so it flags the word as spam.

Thanks madhen. I was afraid it was considered an offensive slang word. Heck I consider myself a "h".

I had one of my posts pulled almost immediately when I referenced another frugal site in answer to someone's question, so I think there is a filter that either automatically flags it or allows Sara/Gabe to remove any material they think might drive traffic to their competitors.
