Request for Stockpile Photos - wide angle!
It is seriously weird how much happiness I get from looking at other people's stockpiles, you all do such a great job.
I do wish I could see a few wide angles, so I can see not only what you store - but how and where. If anyone is willing to post some wider angles so I can see if it's in the kitchen, in the garage, in basement (the dark dingy cellar), etc. I'd find that really helpful.
We have an old house with a musty basement, mice are very likely but otherwise we have very little space for food storage. I'm looking for ideas on WHERE and HOW to store my stockpile. I have a small alcove between the dining room and the cellar door to use as storage, but it backs up against the wood stove - which REALLY cranks in the cold weather.
Any suggestions and photos would be appreciated!

I don't have any photos, but I thought I'd mention a couple of things that I hope will be helpful. We have a lot of it in large food-safe buckets stored in different closets, a few here and there. Some of them are lined with mylar bags and have a few oxygen absorbers thrown in for good measure. That's for things like black beans, pinto beans, wheat, and popcorn (which can be ground into corn meal). Some of the canned and toiletry items I have under the bed in bins.
I love looking at the photos, too!

look below the area that you type a post and you'll see "manage attachments"
click that then click the "browse" button to find the pictures on your computer. Then click "upload".
Then click the "submit reply" button like you do for a regular post.

Does stockpiling fabric count?
I am lucky I have a basement...basically clean, few bugs...but it is OFF LIMITS to all but a couple friends. Most of them just don't understand.
I use lots of the 'cheap' garbage cans....and the plastic bins...along with cupboards. The kind you buy and put together....I call it cardboard furniture cause if/when they ever get wet they just turn to dust.

I have a large, tall bookcase in my kitchen beside my fridge. It has five shelves plus you can put things on top. On that I store canned goods, juice, etc. I have a large double kitchen cabinet that I keep my boxed things in(pastas, potatoes, jello and pudding mixes, beans, etc).
I have large shelves in my closet that I store HBA on and I also store extra canned goods, HBA, etc. under my bed. I have a large Rubbermaid tub in my bedroom that I store goodies in (things like granola bars, cereal, candy, etc.) that I don't want the kids to get into! I keep my extra flour in the freezer.S

i do not do huge stockpiling. but i do do something different. besides my regular cabinets for food storing...in my den, i have 9 large round boxes that i store food in. (canned goods, stove top stuffing, lipton pasta packs, spice jars, a separate one for my dishwasher cleaning tabs, etc.) they are those pretty papered boxes that are of varying sizes. you would be really surprised at how much these hold!! i also have a heavy duty cardboard papered trunk. they are all pastel floral as i had been collecting them for some time. but i stick to a color scheme that works with my den colors. no one would have a clue what they are filled with. i also have a little note near my computer that has what is stored in which box. works for me!
