    Talking The sweet stockpiling sickness

First, we made a trip to the salvage grocery and raked it in! Just a few mention-worthy items: Kuhn Rikon potato ricer $5.99 (retail $20); OXO balloon wisk 99 cents (retail $10); Gaiam aluminum water bottle 99 cents (retail $10) . . . and the actual grocery items are too many to even try to list . . . but the same awesome sort of savings! Muahahaha!

On the way home, we hit our Aldi's because dh had informed me they marked their gourmet stuffing (cranberry and wild rice varieties)and turkey stuffing (I'm guessing all remnants of Thanksgiving) down to 25 cents. We are now the proud owners of 65 boxes of stuffing . . . and 10 sour cream mashed taters (also marked down to 25 cents/box).

We may be going off the stockpile deep-end. But heck, I use those stuffing boxes for an awesome meatball recipe that the kids gobble down . . . you can't beat 25 cents/box!!!

If you made it all the way through my stockpile ramblings, your reward is the tasty meatball recipe:

Enjoy! ( I know my kids will be enjoying it weekly for the next 65 weeks!)

Whoo-hoo! How awesome that all that happened to be during a time when you had the resources to take advantage of it!

I got $85 worth of food storage containers (not Tupperware, but just as good - further investigation reveals it to be totally leak-proof, too ) for about $25 a few months ago, it was SO awesome!

Ya know what? I'd love to cathch THAT sickness...lol Now those deals are certainly something to brag about (and to do the happy dance for lol)
Those prices are unheard of. And the kitchen stuff is almost too good to be true Wish we had a store like that.

    Happy for your great finds!

Hubby is off work on vacation for the next week. One of the things we have planned is to check out THREE supposed salvage places. They are all in pretty bad parts of town. I want hubby to go with me the first time to check them out.

At our warehouse store they often give away cases of onions and carrots that might only have 1 blemished spot, and sell 20 ib bags of potatoes for $1

Hubby and I checked out the THREE grocery salvage stores in our area yesterday! They are in seedy parts of town, but I now would feel comfortable going there first thing in the morning.

    We bought:

boxes of name brand high end cereal for 99 cents each
seedless watermelon at half the price of the grocery store
    vermicilli - 10 boxes for $1
1 case qt canning jars - half regular and half wide mouth for $6.99

and a bunch of other things that I can't remember. I spent about $25.

Some prices were great and some are only slightly lower than the grocery store. Some things were NOT a good deal and some things were actually higher than the grocery store. So you need to know your prices.
