What would you still like to add to or need for stockpile for at least 3 months
I was looking over and going thru my stockpile after I added to it this week. I thought I had enough for 3 months but while it MIGHT last 3 months it would be very hodge podge. So I've thinking out of the things that I have what do I need more of and what have I totally neglected to buy extra of. Some I've used up and haven't replenished due to no sales or don't have the money to actually stockpile as in extras. ( Splenda for diabetic husband is expensive and know I need ).
What do you all know you still need to stock up on for at least a 3 months supply? Any suggestions? I really need to be able to go at least 3 months with nothing more than what is necessary unless it is something so fantastic I can't pass it up. I have alot of meat so that will be not much of a problem.
Just curious if anyone else thought that they had that supply covered and after really looking it over found that it is short by more than just a couple cans of something.
I have two Chase cards and while haven't been notified about the 5% of unpaid balance I still expect it soon from the 2% and this is going to really hurt as I had a ton of medical on one of them. 3 MRI's, stress tests, echo something, neurologist, cardiologist (sp) etc. Getting them paid off sooner is little consolation if you can't make them at all at 5% but can at 2%.
Also going to hit in Sept is an interest free for 12 months from Home Depot ( done before the economy went to he!!. and the medical tests.) Thought we'd have it paid off before interest started. Made 2 payments and then October hit. They start in September.
Suggestions and your own shortages appreciated as they may bring something else to light.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. I am checking on my stockpile too. I am short on canned meats and the spaghetti sauce is dwindling.
I think you need to make sure you have your basics(read Granilady's posts). My basics are:flour, rice, oatmeal, beans, salt, sweeteners, oil. Once I got my basics I slowly added extras like canned vegies and fruits, soups and broths, spag. sauce and noodles. Then you can add some things your family likes. My kids like chef boyardee. My husband and I like to keep plenty of coffee around.
The key to my stockpile is that I can make meals from simple ingrediants. I still have quite a ways to go to get it right. But it gives me a good feeling to know that I can feed my family if a blizzard hits.Truck paid off 12/07(paid in full)

I'm well-past the 3-month stockpiling in everything in storage - many things I have 2-3-years worth (grains/sweeteners/dried whey-based milk substitute/coconut oil/sprouting seeds...) - but I will be purchasing more meat for the freezer soon. I've been saving my unspent grocery $$$ (which is easy now that the garden is in full swing and I don't need to buy any fresh produce), so I can get some grass-fed beef from a friend in October. Unfortunately, I can't afford to use it exclusively, but I really do think it's healthier meat for us.

I know I need
Splenda,
regular coffee ( have decaf),
coffeemate,
chicken broth canned (We love baked potato soup which takes the chicken broth and it's cheap and filling.)
cream cheese ( store brand )for the soup
more canned corn, green beans and carrots
chicken and beef bouillon cubes
tomato sauce ( a few )
minced onions
oatmeal (to just eat for me but also for meatloaf )
maybe a couple more TP
know there are others that I have but need more of and probably some I've forgotten to add or renew period. Waiting on some more suggestions.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. I am only asking this question to inform you if you don't know or if others don't know or if its different in your state. We pay our own insurance and a couple of years ago we changed our plan and did not realize that our deductible was $1000. Well dh had to have an MRI and THEN we found out we had to pay for it. We did not put it on a credit card we are making interest free monthly payments until it is paid off. We have done this with several medical bills; some in excess of what ins paid. Did they make you put it on a credit card? Just trying to help someone out.

At the moment I know I am short on:
white rice
cereal
frozen juice
oatmeal
And I would have to check my spices to make sure I had enough if I was planning to go 3 months without shopping.
What you could do is look at what you have, and your meats and see what kind of meals you can make out of it. For example, if you have lots of ground beef or turkey, do you have sufficient pantry items to make taco dinners, meatloaf, or spaghetti-and-meatballs? What are you going to do with the chicken? Do you have all the ingredients for your favorite casseroles or crock-pot meals?Use it up, Wear it out,

Did you know that the stores now have generic Splenda? The patent expired or whatever. Also did you know you can buy a whole case of Splenda on eBay? I haven't bought a box in a while, but it is cheaper than buying in the store and lasts a long time!
Lots of diabetics on hubby's side of the family. He isn't a diabetic yet, but we use Splenda in our coffee and iced tea and all his family members use it when they come over. So I don't worry about it going to waste.

Mary. haven't seen the generic Splenda but after reading your answer I went to Ebay. I think the individual packs are high. I always buy the bag. It seems to last quite awhile. However I put several of the coupon deals on my watch page to look at tomorrow and buy. THANK YOU! I never would have even thought to look on Ebay for Splenda. Been on and sold on Ebay for years but never thought of this. Might have to explore even more possibilities. I really appreciate it.

Thank you Pam. No they didn't "make" us but the bills had lingered for awhile, not real long but a couple were shall we say growing impatient. Felt kind of pressured into it and definitely didn't want to lose the doctors.
We are also self insured and when all the bad stuff happened in October by December I upped our deductible from $2500 to $5000 each to save $100 a month. Now, 6 months later with the rate increase that everyone supposedly got it has went to $815 a month. Can't imagine what the next one will be.
He is self employed so employee insurance is not an option. Can't drop what we have because he became diabetic AFTER the insurance was taken out so they have to cover the diabetes. He also has Barretts and it is not covered at all. So if we lose what we have he is undoubtedly uninsurable. I have high blood pressure, high cholestrol and tryglyerides and I am not cover for any of that such as blood tests, etc. So pretty much I am uninsurable also. This insurance is totally medical. No co pays, no prescriptions, dental, eye etc.. Only good thing about it is reduced price that the physician has contracted for and prescriptions are somewhat reduced from normal pricing.
Right now I'm unemployed. Been so since February. Even if I do find a job I think I would be afraid to give up what we have as crappy as it is, because if I ended up losing the job no one would want to take us on. Or if they did he wouldn't be covered for the diabetes. Catch 22. Damned if you do...damned if you don't.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. I think I could go for three months......might have to check the TP situation.
I would like to have some more meat in the freezer but it is too full since I got a little carried away at the bread store couple weeks back.
There is very little on my grocery list that is 'needed' right away.

I get search notification emails from eBay when new listings for the case of Splenda comes up for sale. Not all the listings are good prices. The best prices are usually BIN and get scooped up pretty fast. I have been known to buy multiple cases when I find a great price and split them with others.
I just looked at the case prices that are currently listed on eBay and they are high! I paid less than $30 for the last case I bought (free shipping), BUT that was some time ago. I still have over half a case.
I only recently noticed the generic Splenda at the store. I haven't done a price comparison between the generic at the store and a case on eBay. I just know the generic is cheaper at the store than the actual Splenda at the store.
I always check prices locally and then check eBay. I have gotten some GREAT deals and the bonus is that the stuff is delivered to my front door. I used to get GREAT deals on tall kitchen bags on eBay. But I haven't found any deals in a while. The days of super deals on eBay are pretty much a thing of the past. eBay is running off the small sellers and catering to the BIG sellers (1000s of listings with multiple quantities at not great prices).
I always check eBay, but now I am focusing on hitting the grocery salvage stores in my area. They can have great prices, but you never know what they will have or when they will have it. That is where my stockpile comes in handy. I don't have to buy at the current price because I have a reserve. I keep a supply on hand and I am always looking for a good deal and stock up when I find it.

I've been checking my stockpile the last week or so. Money is very very tight here so I've really been using up the stockpile, which is one reason I have one to begin with LOL.
I will be going off full time work on Labor Day and then I'm down to weekends until the end of October. Then I'm laid off until April 1. I need to get stocked up on..........
canned green beans, corn and peas
flour
sugar
canned kidney beans
dried pinto and navy beans
pastas and sauce
tomato soup
meats
toilet paperS

I know I need some more canned meats. I've been hitting the canned soups hard for my lunches so I'm definitely almost out of those. I could do with some more spaghetti sauces. To last 3 months I'd need some more cold cereals. I have a good bit of hot ,but I enjoy cold on these hot summer mornings.I'd need more potatoes and onions and carrots. Gee....it doesn't sound like I'm as stocked as I thought! All the basics I have covered for months. Sugar, salt, pepper, flour, cornmeal, paper products,HBA,laundry soap, pastas, powdered milk, coffee, tea, cooking oil.
