    Talking gallon pickle jars

well i just got 10 1 gallon used pickle jars.i stoped at a local mom and pop diner -you knoe the one,s that have a lunch counter and a few tabbles -well i had to go park around back as there was no empty places on the street and i saw empty gallon pickle jars just stacked out side the rear door and i asked them if they were going to throw them away and they said if i wanted them -take them----well all i saw was FREE jars lol-now ill just scrub then out with bleach waster and now i have more jars to fill with rice,flour,pasta,-anything and after i fill the jars ill dip the heads in warm wax to seal them the old way --beeps good and the critters can,t get in lol---im so happy with the finf--just keep an eye out you never know when something will turn up

I would have picked them up also

When I worked a food service job, I used to bring home containers now and them. The 5 gallon pickle buckets were always a good item.

i used to take the glass ones and fill up with all the mcd toys the kids would collect, positioning them so they look pretty and you can see the majority of them. then i would take an old lamp piece, you know the part with the cord and the thingy for the bulb and cut a hole in top and then find a shade for it and make the kids a nice lamp for their rooms.

Like i said I'm not too worried about you. You know the old ways to take care of yourself. Does the ice cream place do the same or do they sell them??

    Marla,
Do you dip the whole top of the jar into the wax?
Or do you just turn the jar upside down and paint-on the wax where the lid and jar join to seal them, then when the wax is dry, put the jars in storage?

Nothing like having something so simple make you day. Enjoy your new jars.
