Default Our half a cow came today!!!

Spent the afternoon organizing my deep freeze. We got our half a cow today, 255lbs of beef!! I'm so excited! Though, now I'll never be able to say that I don't know what we're going to have for dinner Though after being on here for a while I now make a menu for 2 weeks which has helped out a lot! Pretty soon we'll have some deer meat to go with it.

That's great! We are raising our cow for the first time, and he'll be ready in a month! I can't wait to have a freezer of meat too!

Congratulations!! Is your meat already cut up for you or is that something you have to do?

Congrats. We get 1/2 of steer once a year. I love it. We get ours around March. I also can't wait for the deer meet to put in the freezer.

Glad my ornery Uncle Elmer could help fill your freezer. (That's the cow talking, not me)

    Enjoy! (that's me talking,lol)

Yep, it was already cut and vacuum packed! Only thing I had to do was stick it in the freezer!

When we got our cow, I inventoried it. I figured out what would take to be a meal (how many steaks for a meal, how many ribs for a meal, etc). I planned out how many times a week we needed to eat hamburger and a roast or steaks or whatever. That way, we don't wind up with all hamburger left or all roasts or whatever.

I finally found a place 2hrs from here that does something like this. But it is $175 for 25 to 30lb of meat. That just sounds to expensive to me.

It is, but I don't know what your location is like. My 1/4 came in at about $3 a lb.

Having a freezer full of meat is awesome.

That would be a good feeling. I believe I will see what the prices are like in my area.
