    how many in your family?

buy only what you KNOW you would use.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

It looks like a good comprehensive list for basic cooking. There are only a few things I wouldn't keep (like both light and dark brown sugars). I'd suggest buying them when you need them, not just because it is on the list. And if it is on sale maybe buy an extra. Some things, like baking powder, you really don't want 6 cans of sitting around because it goes flat with time. Same with baking mixes. Honey will crystalize. Canned vegs will turn grey if kept too long. Flour can absorb moisture and off flavors, etc. So be aware of what you will use, and what you will reasonably eat in a 6 month period.
