    Default Stocking up on Starbucks- WOOT!

    The commissary here has Starbucks on sale for $5.99 a lb. This is for the House Blend and Breakfast Blend. They usually sell starbucks for $8.99 a lb

    I got 3 bags yesterday and the cashier didn't ask for a ration card. So I am going back tomorrow morning to get the rest of my month's coffee rations and the rest of my individual rations.

    Yay- I won't have to buy coffee for a while!

    Yeah I think Germany is the only country that does rationing for coffee for the commissaries. In England we weren't rationed on coffee.

    We're rationed on:

    -fuel we buy on base
    -hard liquor
    -coffee
    -cigarettes

    In S. Korea I remember there being rationing on certain meats- like ox tails and meat that was popular in Korean cooking.

    It honestly never occurred to me, I guess living here in the States I've taken for granted the abundance/availability of things/products.

    What makes me scratch my head is that these items aren't rationed off base. I could walk into any German grocery store and buy all the coffee on their shelves if I wanted to!

    I think nowadays the rationing is more to keep people from selling the items ala blackmarket. Because there was cases of military personnel selling their gas coupons to local nationals.
