Thanks for the freezing tip, once again Frugal Folks have so much great information!
Actually you're right...no matter what the current price I'd still have more peanutbutter than we need right now. BUT if I hadn't bought into the "warning" to stock up on it because it would soon be so much more expensive I never would have bought more than a couple of jars at one time. I'd have kept up with my 1-2 jars per shopping trip and have no surplus. For us one in the fridge and 2 in the cabinet constitutes the stockpile. 6+ in the cabinet and 2 in the fridge is a bit too much.

It's still such a great source of nutrition and a great price. I'm not sure stockpiling is necessary.

Peanut butter here (on sale) is $2 for 1kg - I bought 3 on sale - we'll use that up in a couple months no problem - probably even less than that with baking.

I bought about 5 jars, which is alot for me, but peanut butter has fat, carbs, a lot of good nutrition, and is filling, so I consider it a good investment. Since I'm diabetic I can't buy just anything that goes on sale. I like the Simply Jiff, which has less fat and carbs, but is more expensive. I make peanut chicken with it. Cook some chicken with soy sauce, garlic, ginger, hot pepper flakes and Sirichi sauce (or other hot sauce). When it's almost done, mix together peanut butter, soysauce, garlic powder, ginger, and thin it a bit with water. Add to the chicken and heat until ready.

I am a pb aholic so I always have quite a bit on hand. It has gone up quite a bit here in the last couple of months, but then if you stop and think about it. I don't think that there is anything in the stores that hasn't gone up significantly

I didn't necessarilly hear about the increase in price, but I have 5 or 6 jars and it's just me! LOL I am going to make the plantation peanut bread recipe today that Grain Lady posted on here. It's really good!

It's gone way up here and my supply is low! I've been watching for sales and coupons and trying to get a few jars into the stockpile. My husband can eat half a jar with a sleeve of saltines at a time when he's in a snacking mood!

We go through so much peanut butter here. My kids love it on sandwiches and toast.....Although we haven't really seen an increase in price here either....But I do plan on getting my stock pile build up, since we don't have one for peanut butter yet.....

well I found something to do with some of the "surplus," I made buckeyes! (Although I think I'll just call them "round peanutbutter cups" since nobody around here seems to know what a buckeye is).
