Search for "food grade storage bucket". You do not want the hardware store utility bucket, it's probably made from the kind of plastic that will leach into your food.
Great article, I really like that it includes a link suggesting how much of each item to buy based on the number of people in your house. I've been trying to have a food storage for a couple of years now and I either end up with not enough stuff or not enough variety to really make anything. On top of that my budget is limited, but I can definitely do $5-$10 a week.
