I haven't been stock-piling or even keeping a well stocked pantry since we moved...which was almost a year ago.

I want to get back in to the groove of having extra on hand...b/c running low on something sucks and completely running out of stuff sucks even more! My focus is going to be having a variety of items in small amounts of things we eat and use. I want to be well stocked by the end of August. This gives me about 5 months.

My plan of attack is as follows:
1. First stock up on HBA's
2. Then move into cleaning products
3. Finally work on food items

My plan is to come back to this post & thread and update on what I'm accomplishing.

HBA's to purchase
toilet paper - 60 rolls
toothpaste - 3 tubes
toothbrushes - 9 brushes
deoderant - 4 sticks
liquid hand soap - 6 jars
shampoo - 2 bottles
regular conditioner - 3 bottles
super conditioner - 3 bottles
baby shampoo - 1 bottle
body wash - 6 bottles
bars of soap - 12 bars

cleaning supplies to purchase
toilet cleaner - 8 bottles
dish soap - 4 bottles
vinegar - 2 large jugs
all purpose cleaner - 6 containers

I've made a list of our top 8 meals we eat and their ingredients and made a list of foods to buy. This list isn't exhaustive. I know I don't have spices flour and sugar on the list. I'll have to come back to those.

Our Top 8 Meals
1. tacos
2. pizza
3. spaghetti and meat sauce
4. chicken with tomatoes and homemade rice-a-roni
5. stir fry and rice
6. homemade hamburger helper
7. beef roast and potatoes and salad
8. mac n cheese with sausage

non-perishable food items to purchase
black beans (canned) - 4 cans
tomato sauce - 10 jars (i want to actually make this myself this summer)
pizza sauce - 10 jars (again, i want to actually make this myself this summer)
pineapples (canned) - 4 cans (small)
olives (canned) - 4 cans
canned tomatoes - 12 cans
rice - 2 bags (2 lbs each or so?)
balsamic vinegar - 1
EVOO - 1
Canola Oil - 1
Broth - 10 cans (veg, chicken, and beef)
tomato paste - 4 cans (again, i want to actually make this myself this summer)
macaroni - 1 large box
penne - 1 large box
spaghetti - 1 large box
bbq sauce - 3 bottles
salsa - 3 bottles
1000 island dressing - 3 bottles
horseradish - 1
ketchup - 1
alphaghetti - 12
mac n cheese - 12

freezer items to buy
ground beef - 20 portions (about 1/2 pound)
cheddar cheese - 1 big block or 10 portions
mozzarella chees - 1 big block or 10 portions
pepperoni - 5 portions about 6 slices
sausage - 5 portions about 2 links per portion

Sounds like what I'm planning as soon as I can eat down a lot of what we already have. I posted about this in another thread. I, too, am going to start with HBA stuff leaving actual food for last. I plan on having larger amounts but we're close on what we want. Goal is also August or September ... that's when hubby goes on Social Security and I want to have some ducks in a row.

I TRY to always have one back up besides what's open. That stuff isn't cheap. Catch it on sale and back up with one.

Nikko actually mentioned having a back up..which is very wise idea...I always try to keep a back up on meds..

But the one thing that happened here was 3 people got the flu at the same time..3x the meds and I did not have enough..so if possible keep enough so if everyone has it u don't have to go out and buy it...

which is hard because it is used for meth and they limit it..grrrrr

I actually sat down on the porch over the weekend with a cup of coffee, pen and notebook and made a list of all I could think of. I'm sure I'll add to it but it was a pretty good size list.
Like you I'm going to start on HBA/household leaving food for last as we're still eating thru the older stuff and I want the grocery stuff to be newer dated stuff when I'm ready to start on it.

Dinah thanks for posting! I started a list on my iPad also, but im looking at a longer stockpile than you. Plus I'm starting fromscratch, so the list is looking very daunting....AND I haven't even been downstairs to see what I'm missing!! Thanks for posting this to kick some of the Reston us in the bum!
